Thanks a lot!

Try the demo. See for yourself.

I was cubase user before and discovered the free version 1.6 that mackie gave away last december and upgraded to T2 a few weeks ago.

I'm just more productive with T2 for the stuff I'm doing (guitar, bass, drum-VSTs, vocals). Rock stable. Simple to understand. Innovative user interface concept: You don't need a 4 screen stock exchange setup to keep the overview what you are doing.

reduced to the max I would say.

I also see future potential to get those things fixed/added I still miss or have issues with.

and.... Two-Click archiving whole projects to an archive file containing .ogg files and main arrangement-edit. I use that for exchanging music with friends via ftp.

Hey all, im brand new to this, have been a cep2 and cubase user for years...tried the t2 demo yesterday and bought it today, absolutely fantastic! ease of use alone makes it well worth the buy, everything in one window, all the plug ins and not to mention a definite sound difference as compared to the others.
JUST ENJOY THE MUSIC

I was working with Cubase when I started writing material that required tempo and time sig changes. Lots of projects fell by the wayside because of how unintuitive the workflow had become. Then I got T2, hit ctrl+e to insert a new tempo change, and saw that I could move the tempo change in the same view as the tracks...the rest is history.

I tried Cakewalk Homestudio. Was unimpressed. Got Tracktion for free, but didn't look at it for a couple months. Starting fooling around with it and fell in love!

I was using Sonar2.x before and... found the Traction. Then upgraded to T2 and now I'm less and less impressed with those "big hosts". Traction has the best GUI on the planet and also some unique capabilities (racks, per clip FXs, flexible track's filters). Yep, T2's midi editor perhaps isn't best in the business but overall it's hard to not be impressed by Traction!

I struggled with Digital Performer, had to seek help from the manual for every little task, felt frustrated often, and looked back over a coupe months and realized I had made very little actual music and I had had no fun.

So I switched to Cubase. It was a bit easier to figure out than DP, but I constantly was opening and closing windows, fiddling and futzing with this that and the other and after a coupe of months realized I had made very little music, that the whole business was frustrating with glitches and not infrequent crashes, and I had had no fun.

Then I downloaded Tracktion, produced a piece of music within a couple hours and realized I was having fun playing music for the first time (while using a computer that is). I got one of the last copies of the free version, but bought it the next day cause the price was so cheap and I was happy to support something I like.

I do a lot of midi work, so I do look forward to overall improvements there, and some general workflow could be better with something like folder tracks and so on, but that is all in the context of Tracktion having a basic GUI design that is flat out better than anything else out there for someone who is not a techno-geek and who wants to just make music.

Agree, but even the most hardboiled technogeek have to fall in love with T2. It is so lovely to look at I can\t even believe it\s true. I was also a Cubase user, from version 3.5, and I switched to logic, back to cubase, to Cakewalk, back to Cubase, to Sonar, back to Cubase and fooled around with FL and Reason but with no satisfaction. I then used Nuendo and Protools for years before I made the switch to T. I still use Protools, mainly because of no omf import in T, and I long for more details in a future release, also for midi, which I make most of my music from.

For me, there's really only one thing I want and that's template edits, although that can be worked around a 'one-stop' solution would be nice.

Other than that, I find the single screen user interface to be the best thing - everything I'm likely to need during the course of writing/recording is just a mouse click away.

I've been using Tracktion for a considerable period (2 and a half years, or is it 3 and a half?), and haven't looked back.

I still faff around with other hosts, but Tracktion is the one that works best overall .

That last sentence should finish with the words "for me". This PC had a fit!

oh God!non opponent opinion!?!?
I think one thing is most important had not been mentioned!
If T2 audio quality is good?
and this is very important.

and I used several software and below I list the audio quality.
cakewalk 9 < cep < cubase < Samplitude2496 < sonar4 < protools .

and I have tried this: using sonar4 and Nuendo2 recording same guitar sample for 1 track. and add same filter, then mixdown. and the 2 mixed down clip sounds different. So,this prove that different software make different sound.

so, I wonder that if T2 could make this better!?!?

I'm a former Nuendo user, I think T2 sounds better, but I always owed that to the great workflow and not the way the program processes audio. Besides that, I bet if you do a comparison, and use the 64-bit option in T2, you might be pleasantly surprised at what you get for 1/10th the price of Nuendo.

I came over from Orion - I was fed up with pattern based stuff, and wanted to do more audio.

Single screen interface, linearity (input->track->FX/Instr->out), draggable FX/Instr., archives and last but definitely not least RACKS!!!
Never looked back
