Receptor UniWire server

So, I keep thinking about this idea about having a "Receptor UniWire server". Basically, it's for us Receptor owners that want to increase their DSP without buying another Receptor. All it has is a Gigibit ethernet card, 1 Gig o'ram and the Receptor OS on it. Not a "road-ready" box like the Receptor is now but a "studio version". Key the OS to the network MAC address (maybe this is how it's done now, I'm guessing) and leave the MIDI, ADAT, S/PDIF off. Just use UniWire to talk to it. Would it even need an audio card if it's running UniWire?

It would be like a Receptor Cluster. Each one could be around half the cost of a Receptor Instrument? It would have no special hardware. If you wanted a display, make up a little LCD for the drive bay to show status. Sell it to people that are registered owners, only.

Hmmm.... you Musers must have thought about this, right? I'd buy one or two... :)

Okay, so maybe it wasn't a good idea. :hihi:

That is a good idea. We do not have any immediate plans to do it, but who knows, one day we may decide to do it.
