T2 midi clock command bugs makes it useless for tracking

until the midi clock commands are fixed i cant use this software to start and stop playback of my external midi seq. a mpc 1000. this works fine with other daws just doesnt work with tracktion.

i used midi monitor and found
it only sends the command for continue not start and stop. it also added some unwanted mmc info when that is turned off. the continue doesnt start the mpc.

this really needs to be fixed as i cant use the software that i have paid for, as it is intended to be used.

I agree mate completely.

I had a problem Syncin' up my MPC2kxl with tracktion, and the start and stop problems you describe. In the end I had to teach myself a work around to get some functionality that suited me, as I was completely unwilling to give up on tracktion for its other benefits.

I use Tracktion as a master sending MTC and syncing the MPC to that, It seems quite solid, that way I can use the transport controls in tracktion to hit play and record, the only commands Im using. I will then record an extended performance from the MPC including all MIDI and Audio tracks including any live fills or changes playin' dem pads.

I had to tweak the latency and pre-delay setting in tracktion to get all the notes and audio to line up But I can then use tracktion to chop up and edit the parts.

I hope some thoughts on my own way of working might you get into Tracktion whilst they fix up these problems. Being able to control the transport from the MPC is a much more intuitive way to control things but for now Im working like this to get on with things.

now imaging your mpc only has midi clock (mpc 1000)!!!
if it had mtc i could do as you did.
glad that you found a workaround, most ?all? other mpc's have mtc.
i'm wondering if there is any way i can play a midi command from a control track and transmit the midi clock start command so i can sync the mpc's start.

I have put my thoughts on this very issue a few times on this list. This is a serious problem for some of us that would like to use Tracktion with other hardware sequencers.

However, I appear to have found a 'workaround' to this problem. I have done what Headquest did. I bought Live 5. No doubt, it will have other problems, but for now, my midi timing, rewire timing and CC linking, sloppy GUI and sync issues have all been solved.

T2 will remain unused on my machine. This is a shame because it promises so much, but I'm just getting more and more frustrated with it.

Your only problem when Multi-Tracking from your MPC using clock only, as its not Exactly "in sync" anyways. I would argue that even in Live where it may work perfectly, it main purpose would be run sound modules in Sync, when it comes to Multi-Tracking where second and third takes really need to be in Sync, clock isn't going to cut it.

I don't know how many Imputs you have on your soundcard (most peoples reason for tracking at anyrate) But, perhaps you could just record chunks of sound and trim them up and auto bpm those phrases.

Or, if you really want to mult-track, export your sequences from your MPC 1000 and import them into Tracktion so that your MPC becomes a sound Module of sorts you loose the need to transmit start signals etc., and you can multi-track to your hearts content.

i use the mpc to program all my midi.
the mpc 1000 only uses midi clock no mtc or mmc
it multi-tracks fine into live or dp.
i use a motu 828 with the mpc and different synths all being triggered from the mpc.
having midi clock trigger the start lets me solo an instrument and record in sync. it seems accurate enough for the music i am making. r+b, hip hop and downtempo

the midi timing of my mpc is much better than the macs.
i also like the workflow of the mpc and hardware synths and modules. just want to track and adjust the mix in t2.

I like to set down a click track from my BOSS DR-670 drum machine, which only supports MIDI CLOCK. Since Tracktion can't reliably send Midi Clock I have to use Cubase to record my drum-click track, then import that into traction. PLEASE FIX THIS!

I tried just letting the BOSS, set to the same BPM just play but it seems to differ slightly from tracktion's time when set to the same BPM. So after about 50 measures you can start to notice the difference in timing.

As a side note, my 02R96V2 GPFs (ASSERT error) when Tracktion sends Midi to it. It is really bad when your Mixer faults!
