Cannot hear VST effects

This is probably a very basic question but here goes....

When I use a VST instrument with a VST effect after it, I cannot hear the sound of the effect unless I am actually recording. For example, if I use a piano vst and then a delay effect vst, I can only hear the piano and no delay when the track is armed. It is only when I hit record that the delay effect is heard.

How do I hear the effects whilst not recording. I do have end-to-end enabled.

Do you have end-to-end enabled on the midi input too? You have to have it enabled in both places...

EDIT: Oh, I see. Didn´t understand your question so my answer will not help you. Hope someone else can help you with this one.
