Do any T2/eXT users know if it is possible to use eXT as another workaround for the lack of aftertouch support in T2? With so many routing possibilities it seems like it's in there somewhere...

Aftertouch is a midi continuous controller that is proprtional to the amount of pressure applied to the keys while being held down.

There are 2 varieties:

1. Channel aftertouch(or channel pressure as it is sometimes called) makes an average of pressure from all keys being held.

2. Poly aftertouch (or poly pressure) sends a message corresponding to the pressure of each individual key being held, so you can apply modulation to indivdual notes being held down.
Polypressure is a huge bandwidth hog as you might imagine, but was only available on a few keyboards. I don't think it's currently available at all.

You may have already seen this, but if not, it might be helpful to you. It's a somewhat convoluted way of making it happen, but I appreciate the fact that someone went to the trouble to make it happen in a host that doesn't support it. :)
Cheers!

My controller has aftertouch and it is nice to use... With Tracktion I have to turn it off, otherwise recorded midi doesn't sound like what I played

It seems like it should not be too hard to remap aftertouch data to a midi CC so it can be recorded in Traction, then remapped on the way out... Anyone tried it?

Best would be if Mackie just made Traction see aftertouch... I miss it

Were you referring to this (and missing the link)?

Anyway, I keep posting this whenever the subject pops up... and guess I will continue to do so until Tracktion actually gets FULL Midi support!

afaik eXT doesn't support aftertouch either. I'm not sure why neither of these sequencers have no AT support. Seems pretty basic here - synths have had aftertouch for like 20+ years!

Yeah. That's it. I was in a hurry and forget to paste the link! :) :dog:
Here lately I'm getting way too much use out of that "smacking the forehead" smiley.

Wow, shocker that eXT has no aftertouch support either...how weird!

Thanks for the AT-saver link, I had started to go through the process of using it once before and got lost, I'll have to give it another go.

Maybe there's a way to use it as a rack preset of some kind? Although I think that's tricky since it has to span two tricks, the best bet is probably to save a template...

It works well, but I'm the first to agree it's a bit of a bugger. I most surely would use my aftertouch-enabled gear a lot more, if there was built-in support.

I figure when first going from Tracktion 1 to Tracktion 2, the devs kept the Tracktion file format intact between versions. That makes sense in some ways - a lot less things that can go wrong, more opportunities to back-check against T1 when weird things happen.

But it's time to move on, guys - Aftertouch, full bank/program change support, useable MMC, in short, the full MIDI nine yards!
