Automating rotor speed on MDA Leslie that comes with T2

I've written to the guy at MDA to ask this same question, but got no response.

Does anyone know how one could automate the rotor speed setting on the MDA Leslie? Rotor speed doesn't show up in the list of automatable parameters.

I like how MDA Leslie sounds - it's just missing a nice way to swap the speed (without me loading tape-it, and dynamically rendering while I click the most fast / slow / fast / slow).

What host are you using? I loaded mda leslie in energyXT, and rotor speed does show up as an automatable parameter. I was able to successfully automate it with an envelope. The leslie gui does not show the speed slider moving, but the slider in eXT moves with the envelope.

(I noticed on frapper that you're in Clarkston - I grew up in Rochester, Michigan down 75 from you. I'm also an engineer Small world.)

Good luck getting the leslie to work.

Maybe go to the mda website and see if a downloaded version of the plug shows the speed as an automatable parameter.

The plug-ins from the MDA site should be identical to those in Tracktion. I just double-checked the Leslie, and it is in fact the same.

eXT uses MIDI automation, if I'm not mistaken-- as opposed to VST automation. Wonder if that makes a difference?

I feel so dumb, though. Right after today saying that eXT is coming along, I can't even figure out how to test this for myself. I add an envelope part in the sequencer, assign it to the Leslie, and then...? How do I see the available automatable parameters?

You're right, maybe that is the difference.

As far as automating with midi in eXT:

Double-click the envelope track where the mute and solo buttons are and the track widens to show where you set the midi CC #.

Then, in the mixer, right click where is says "mda Leslie"

Select "show param", and select the parameter of interest. A slider appears underneath.

To the right of the slider, there's a button with a "...". Click it, select "Map to CC" and select the same CC # you assigned to the envelope.

Then as long as the envelope track is routed to the leslie plug (or to the VST for which the leslie plug is an insert effect), and you have drawn in an envelope, you should get automation when you hit the sequencer play button.

Holy hell that's aggravating me now.

I have found everything you've mentioned, up to the part where I can draw an envelope! I don't see any envelope-drawing tools to be had. I imagine there were envelopes in 1.30, no? (I haven't installed anything newer yet)

Sorry...my bad. You really don't draw them in - you alt-click in the envelope grid to add points.
