Using DK+ (recording?)

I just got around to using DK+ for the first time, and this http://www.conservatory.com/music/20051130.mp3 track is my first experiment with it.

Anyway, I love the sound, but I'm frustrated with trying to actually use it, because I can't figure out how to record DK+ with the eXT sequencer (for instance).

Do I need to program controller messages to do the pattern changes and record those before going to DK? Or is there some easy thing I'm missing? (I recorded that track essentially in real time, making each change while the mix played, and since it's not recorded, I could not duplicate or edit it.)
