Saving clips that have been split

Hi --
I'm starting with a single audio (.wav) file of lots of material which I then want to split into sections which I shall rearrange and loop.
However, the information for each split clip still refers to the original single audio file. Is there any way of saving each clip as a separate audio file?

Or, if you want to do it in an unconventional way, each of the "split" sections can be assigned to a key in Tracktion's native sampler. Then you just use MIDI to trigger the beginning of each loop.
Although it was intended for Drum loops originally, search the RMS forum for "beatslicing tutorial" or something like that to come up with a post I made regarding this technique.

Okay - I tried that, though obviously I'm missing something, as each split bar ended up being shifted down by what sounded like several octaves.Lunch Money wrote:Or, if you want to do it in an unconventional way, each of the "split" sections can be assigned to a key in Tracktion's native sampler. I tried rendering each bar and then using them as scrap pieces - but it appeared that tracktion frequently added a little slice of empty audio right at the end of each rendering - which of course meant that the timing was screwy when i reimported stuff.
In the end I figured out how to do this with Audition

Well, you have to make sure you change the root note... the sampler is, after all, a sampler.
The root note is middle C by default, I believe, so if you play anything other than middle C, its pitch will be shifted.
Haven't experienced the gap either. Weird. Glad you got it sorted out, though. Audition is a great tool!

Well, what you're probably missing is that when you copy and paste the clip into the tracktion sampler, the green arrow represents the root note. Play that note, and the clip will play at the correct pitch. Assign different clips to different notes.
The white arrows show you the range of notes you want to assign to a particular clip. If you don't want to pitch at all, set the two white arrows to the same note as the green arrow. If you want to pitch the sample up or down across an octave, separate the two white arrows by an octave.
Try playing the clip on the on-screen keyboard by clicking on the key highlighted by the green arrow in the sampler, it should sound at the normal pitch.

Nice, I never tried that before... I'll use that sometime.Lunch Money wrote:Or, if you want to do it in an unconventional way, each of the "split" sections can be assigned to a key in Tracktion's native sampler. Then you just use MIDI to trigger the beginning of each loop.

It would still be nice just to have an easy way to make a new clip with a key command.
