Hi guys,
recently I bought an E-MU Xboard 49 keyboard and bundled was the Proteus X LE VSTi. The problem is that while it works fine for playing I just cant render or export anything. All I got is a warning message (about some exception, Tracktion will be unstable blah blah). Note that I don't had or have similar problems with other VSTi's and my plugin folder is full of beta or even alpha software. I also tried checking-unchecking various settings in T (realtime priority etc.), tweaking options in Proteus, exporting @various samplerates -bitdepths but NADA. Always the same message.
The only thing I didn't try was to install XP SP2 (I am still on SP1 in my DAW partition)
Any thoughts or similar experiences?

I've used it fine on my machine, so perhaps something on your PC. Don't know if it requires SP2 or not, though.

Thanx Rich,
you mean you have sp2, right?

No problem man. I was refusing to install it in my DAW partition but I am afraid that now I have to. Hope this will get this problem sorted.

Thanx to both of you Daniel and Rich

Hi Zeoy, have you tryed to apply a new drivers version (v1.5.2 i think) from E-MU web site?

My ProteusXLE works fine in Tracktion 1.6.

My ProteusX LE works fine in Tracktion 1.6.
The only thing I found there was drivers for Proteus X not LE. However I tried them but all I got was a message that Proteus X was not found on my system. Is it the same driver for both versions?

Very strange, becouse it's solving my E-MU problems so far without 'not found' messages. Anyway i had rendering problems untill i updated the drivers to 1.5.2 and marked a 'v' at the "rendering mode" properties screen of PowerFX, i can't see how ProteusXLE and PowerFX conected one to each other - but it worked here.

I've heard that Tracktion has a problem rendering Proteus X tracks. I tried energyXT and that works fine.

You mean you used this file "EmuPX_HF3_PCApp_L4_1_52_22.exe"

You lost me when you mentioned the PowerFX. Maybe the difference is that I got Proteus X LE with Xboard49 and you with some EMU audiocard, right?

in case it might help, my ProteusX LE says it's version 1.5.5.064, and i also have an emu audio card installed on this pc (though i got Proteus with the xboard).

Thanx Daniel. I 'll install SP2 tonight and see what happens.

I always thought ProteusX or XLE needs to see some E-MU card installed, so i assumed that you have the card too, sorry for confusing you.

Thanx Rich, Daniel, Floyd, Scamme for trying to help. I am glad to inform you that I've found the source of the problem and a very easy workaround. Before this I had tried everything except from reformat (I am not that crazy): checking-unchecking all possible settings in T, tweaking every parameter in Proteus, uninstalling-reinstalling EMU software (both drivers and Proteus) and installing (arghhh SP2). Nothing worked. Then while tweaking Proteus I managed to render but only once. After a few experiments I found it:

PROTEUS REFUSED TO RENDER IF ITS GUI PAGE WAS SHOWING THE ACTUAL PRESET SCREEN :bang:

ON THE CONTRARY IF YOU CLICKED ON "PRESETS" OR "MULTISETUP" SO THE PRESET SCREEN (the blue one) WAS NOT SHOWING IT RENDERED HAPPILY :bang:

AND NOW THE MOST STRANGE PART: THIS EXACT BEHAVIOUR WAS THE SAME EVEN IF PROTEUS WAS HIDDEN (hide button) :bang: :bang: :bang:

Sorry for the caps guys (it's the first time I do it). Now let me give you some Big Paulo style emoticons before I start bitching about our beloved Creative ...

:x :x   :x :x

I hope this story is helpful for some other fellow Tracktioneers with the same problem.
Maybe I 'll bump it later just to let more people know about it...

Cheerz

PS These all happened in a P43.0 Prescott, ASUS P4P800 mobo, NVIDIA 6600GT VGA card
