Drum maps in Tracktion 2?

Hi guys!
I have two drumkits I usually use: ns_kit7free and gcswdrums. I've just bought Tracktion 2, and I LOVE it! :hihi:
I used Cubase before and in Cubase I could split the outputs to get the different drums on separate audio channels by making drum maps. How can I do this in Tracktion 2? I don't own a "real" sampler. I use rgcaudio's sfz-player.

You came to right place. I am using exactly the same setup (Tracktion+SFZ+ns_kit or gscw) and doing it all the time. You need to understand a few things about racks (if you don't aleady). I 'll try to send you an archive tomorrow to show you how.
The idea goes like this:
a) you split your kits into 5 for example subkits (kicks, snares, toms, hihats, cymbals-I have already done it , can send you the sfz files)
b) you load five sfz's in different channels, each one loaded with a corresponding subkit
c) you create another track for midi and you route its outpout to the other five chanels with a simple "midi-connect" rack: you create a rack and simple connect its midi-in to its midi-out. Then you place it as the first filter in all six channels (5 with sfz's + midi track)
If it sounds to complicated I 'll try to send an archive and the required sfz's

What I described above is just oneway to do it. You could do it with everything in one rack

Or maybe someone could give me an alternative to sfz-player. A sampler that can read SF2 files and have multiple outputs?

EDIT: It's a bit tricky to "rewire" my thinking to "Tracktion-mode" since I'm used to using Cubase ;) .

Yes, I converted the sf2 files to sfz with the SFZed free editor, the I used a text editor to split it.

One thing I don't understand is the part on "MIDI-connect" rack... Could you please explain what you mean? I'm at work now so I can't really try it at the moment ;) .

OK. You create a new empty rack, you drag a line to connect the midi-in with the midi out. Then you drag that rack into the filter area of your midi track (should be the only filter there). Now if you want to route midi from your midi track to the other sfz tracks you simply put copies of this rack in those tracks (just before the sfz VSTi's). Now all your midi notes will be routed to all sfz channels but since sfz 's will be loaded with subkits only the corresponding notes in each track will be heard (kicks from the kick track with the sfz loaded with the kicks.sfz subkit and so on)

Grab those sfz's (IIRC you must put them in the same file with the wavs of nskit_free)

How do I create the MIDI-connect rack? If I click "rack" and create a new rack do I simply connect the two MIDI "cables"? When that's done how do I drag-and-drop the rack to a track?
Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions... 8)

yes you simply connect them. Then you drag the "drag here to insert..." labeled icon to the filter area
