Wormhole users? With Tracktion?

Hi there all,

I downloaded a DEMO of this:

It allows multiple audio tracks to be transmitted over an ethernet connection between computers. And does so quite well. If you have gigabit ethernet - it has more bandwidth than FW 400.

I set up Tracktion on my iMac, and Tracktion on my Powerbook G4. I set up the tracks in the iMac as my sending machine. I loaded up the plugin. And when I looked on the powerbook (the receiving machine), there the wormhole tracks I had created were, only - I had to set them up as VST plugins AND create blank audio clips in each track just to hear them.
I see where I can pull it up if it is plugin - but that is only as part of the outgoing path, not the inputs.

Is there a way for Tracktion to recognize this as an audio input, so I can record? You can hear everything just perfectly - over multiple tracks, but you just cannot record because they are not inputs in Tracktion, but VST plugins.

I know other DAW's like DP let you select a VST insert as an input as well as an output. (it did it when I tried this experiment in DP) BUT, it seems I can only record audio on ONE track at a time in DP.

Does Tracktion have this ability to recognize Wormhole as an Audio input? if so it is hidden BIGTIME. I only have T1, but I tried it out in T2 demo - didn't work.

I think you may need midi yoke to setup a virtual midi input and output port, then you can record a vst as an input (on the left hand side).

Excepting that I am not transmitting midi, but audio via Wormhole.

you can't put vsts in the input section.

what you can do is use tapeit or something similar to record the output of plugins placed on the right hand side.

yes - i've used this (havent for a while though) - what you need to do is put an mda DX10 either before or behind it (i forget which now). Then disable that. That will be enough to trick tracktion into enabling wormhole and you're off to the races. Not elegant, but takes no cpu and works well.

Nope Steve, I just tried that. The poblem is that in order to RECORD a track, you have to have the inputs on the left to assign to the tracks. Tracktion does not recognize the incoming Wormhole as an Audio Input, and IT HAS TO in order to record wormhole. but DOES recognize it if it is loaded as a VST plugin. The problem there is that you cannot load a VST as an INPUT to a track.

I am guessing a 3rd party solution will be in order. Something running in the background that will allow the system (and Tracktion) to see Wormhole as an Audio input.
I have tried assigning wormhole to the actual empty audio clip, but still won't record. There HAS to be an input on the left that will allow it. And there just isn't.
I wish Tracktion had the ability to assign a VST effect or instrument as THE INPUT source. Maybe a feature in an upcoming release?


Anyone know a third party solution here?

That would be cool. too bad Tapeit is for PC only.

hmmm. Anything like that for a mac? I can record one track at a time anyway without all this stuff - but I was hoping to be able to record several audio tracks at once coming from another computer.

I am adding a PC in my studio setup(controlled via MIDI overlan or Fx Telelport when it comes out for OSX - by my iMac's Tracktion) and it will be hosting all the VSTs and stuff on it. I wanted to record the audio from that to my laptop using Wormhole. (mulitple tracks at once.)
