I can't seem to use more than one wav file at a time in T2. When I open the sampler, I can load one .wav file into it and it works fine. But if I load a second .wav file, the first one doesnt make any noise, and its waveform disapears. If i load a third, then the first two fall silent, etc...
Also, I can insert a .wav audio clip into a track just fine, but as soon as I insert a second clip, the first one either stops making noise or its waveform dissapears and is replaced by the message "Unable to Read File" or something like that.
On top of that, lets say I insert a soundclip and chop it up and rearrange it. That will work fine, but as soon as I render the project to audio, the waveforms dissapear like in the first two cases.
Whenever I choose a wav file to put on a track or load into the sampler, it gives me this message
This file is stored on a networked or removable disk drive:
users/myname/documents/samples/filename.wav
... do you want to make a local copy of the file before importing it?
But as far as I know, that path leads to my harddrive (I dont know what else I would be storing things on). So I guess its confused into thinking that my HD is removable, and its making a local copy into a temp folder of some sort. Do you know why it might be doing this?

What version of Tracktion are you running? Did you install the recent update?

Wow, a lot of weirdness going on, but some of it might be just misunderstanding how things should be working. I'll pass on the 'weirdness' since I'm at a loss to explain it, but hopefully this will help:
- You need to know for sure where your samples are coming from. Dragging and dropping from various sources isn't generally the way to go, since your files will eventually become scattered and lost. T will prompt you to make a local copy every time you use removable media (including removable hard drives, afaik). This is a feature you should take advantage of! There's no compelling reason to NOT make a local copy. Local copies aren't just in the temp drive, but are copied into your project folder. If you fail to make a Local copy, then any time the pathname changes (say you reorganize your samples, or the drive letter automatically assigns itself to a different one for one of many reasons) your edit will not locate the source.
Best to make a local copy.

I just updated to ver. 2.1, but it still does the same thing. The files all have dif. names. Whats weird is that the files are definitely not on a removable drive. They are in my documents folder, which is securely on my internal HD. And nothing thats in my project file ever shows back up when I open the edit. Also, they disapear wether or not I make a local copy when prompted.

I remember having a problem recording into "my documents" but that was with version 1 and never happened on playback....

"my documents" is tricky because of the way the directory tree recurses. I've always just used a directory on the root of a drive, even when I had only a "C" drive: "C:\Tracktion Projects"
If you really like using "My Documents", you can always tell Windows to use a root directory for "My Documents" and do it that way. Then when you work on projects in T, they're actually saved to "C:\My Documents\Tracktion Projects" (or whatever) instead of the weird %user\settings\documents\blah blah blah that it defaults to.

I'm not using a PC, I'm running it on an iBook. I dunno if Documents in OSX is the same as My Documents in Windows, though.
Also, I dont even have to load a new sample for it to dissapear. I can just click on the settings tab, and when I go back, the wav is gone.

Most bizarre. I think I'll have to give up soon, not having a Mac. But I've never heard of anyone having this problem before. Quickly, though:
What is the SOURCE for the wav files (sample CD? Separate partition?) and IS it possible to set up your projects in a different directory?
I wonder what file structure the other Mac-users are using.
