:shock: I am running a Delta 1010, Rode NT 2000, Rode S1, Shure drum mikes, SP 828 pre amps, RNC compressors, Traktion 2, Dell dual core 2.8 GHZ, 2 MB L2 cache, 160 GB SATA RAId, 1 GB (2 x512) dual channel.

Been recording album-have 3 songs down. One has tracked drums (New York parallel) vocals/backing vocals, bass, midi, guitar-about 24 tracks total, lots of eq, compressors, some reverb plugins. Almost finished final mix -when playing some 50% cpu usage. Really good sound-should really leave alone-but its like a sickness you know.

Got the new Mackie Traktion 2 plugins (simple compressors, 4 band eq, reverb), and I decided (as we all do eh-cant resist a fiddle and tweak) to replace the eq and reverb on the song on kick/snare-and replaced drum compressors with the simple Mackie compressors, and I noticed first up that the CPU was suddenly running at 70% odd. Also there were some pops and cracks that suddenly sprung up on replay-which was shocking as I have worked on this track over the last month with never one crack/pop.

I narrowed down the problem to the Mackie reverb plugin, which seems to be greedy on cpu usage, and when I replaced with Traktion reverb the cracks and pops disappeared, and the cpu usage dropped back down.

Has anyone else had similar problems?

any time i hit high cpu load i get the same problems

the mackie stuff is not the most cpu easy of plugins but thay do have a verry larg amount of power (espeshelly the compressors)

to get rid of the crackeling you will have to ither

a) increase your buffer (lateincy) i often do this when i am mixing a track after i have finished composing)

b) freeze a track that you are not working on to free up cpu

c) use a less cpu intencive plugin

I also have the same problem with the new mixing tools. Quite a few cracks and pops. I won't use them until there is an update available to fix this problem.

Hi again,

I forgot to add that I get pops and cracks even though my CPU is not that high.
