Tracktion Software

Sorry if this topic has been covered before...

Can someone show me a step by step method of setting up a vocoder VST in Tracktion? I've read the manuals that come with the various vst' and I'm still not making any progress. I'm used to the hardware version, but setting up the plug in version has me perplexed.

My favorite Vocoder is Akai's DC Vocoder. The set up is....Drag it onto the track you want to vocode, then start vocoding.

cocopuffz, there's always a carrier and a modulator for a true vocoder. There are about 5 different ways to set up Tracktion to handle this, but the only real question is, which vocoder are you using?

Open 3 new tracks

track#1: vocals (or whatever you want to be the carrier)-paning left- output to track#3

track#2: synthisizer (or whatever you want to be the modulator) -paning right- output to track#3

track#3: MDA vocoder or talkbox

Or:

Drag a vol/pan filter to the vocal clip, pan it hard left.

Drag a vol/pan filter to the synth (or whatever modulator) clip, and pan hard right.

Layer one clip on top of the other in the same track

Add MDA vocoder or talkbox.

Scamme's way is ultimately "better", but until we get folder tracks (keep fingers crossed!) the way I mentioned keeps things all in one place.

Or, use DC Vocoder and just plop it on a track and go. Man i'm lazy.
