Hi guys,

I am new to the forum here.

My day job is sales guy for Muse Research. I just recorded a video about the Receptor and put it up on my homepage. If you guys are interested in downloading and watching the video, click this link:

If you fast forward to the end, I shot some video about how to integrate the Receptor with sequencing software(s).

If you guys have any questions that are not covered by the video, let me know and I'll shoot some more videos....

Post

Ted,
Thats great!!! I'm a muse dealer. do you mind if I host the vids on my site? Properly credited of course....

Hi MCal,

Yes, that is not a problem...I encourage you to do so....

Hi Ted

You're great (: i don't have a receptor but now i can really see how performant receptor is. Since now on the videos there wasn't a real-time demonstration of 16 vsti at the same time... but in your video b4, atmosphere, rmx, trilogy, kompakt... perfect!

Thanx alot! Now i'm really convinced, that the receptor has a lot of power!

Did you made any experience with very cpu hungry vsti (and especially disc streaming vsti?) Im interested in Running vsti (perhaps in kompakt) like TBO or Ivory... does this match with the receptor?
one little question: what was the buffersize in your video when you ve set the multi with 16vsti to 16different midi channels?

Thanx and greetings from switzerland!

Ted,

I can't seem to have my QuickTime show the video portion of your video. Could please provide us with a .wmv or .avi of your videos? That would be great.

***Edit- was able to get this to play after upgrading to QT 7.0.4.80.

I'm also unable to play your videos using Windows. The error message says, "QuickTime is missing software required to perform this operation. Unfortunately, it is not available on the Quicktime server."

FYI. Thanks!

Unfortunately, I am getting the same message. I Would love to see this video. I can't believe Ted has 16 plugins running with some of them being pretty heavy duty.

These clips, or at least the ones I looked at, use the new AVC codec, and require QuickTime 7. It sounds like those who can't view the clips have an older version. You can download the standalone QT7 installer here:

Yes, QT 7 is required, sorry I failed to mention that. Thanks Richard! You rock!

How much power was left over, Ted? Were you near Receptor's limit?

I'd be really interested to know if you'd be able to manage the same 16 instruments with a buffer setting of 128? The MIDI-Audio Output latency at 256 is 18msecs (according to Muse's figures). 18 msecs is too high for V Drums, which is what I'd be using with Receptor. 9 msecs, the figure for 128 buffer setting would be just about OK.

I'm really trying to ascertain just how much horsepower I'd be getting with Receptor. I did start another thread on this a few days ago, but so far no-one's come back to me.

Of particular interest is how many instances, or instrument slots can be used at once with Ra or Colossus, what polyphony is being used, and what is the buffer setting.

Post

Do you have a MIDI file you could email me that I could use for testing? I guess that would only matter if you already had Colossus, and could compare to your current system.

I've used BFD and DFH on Receptor, and we have had drummers play on it at trade shows with no problems. Usually sample-playback plugins are extremely efficient.

Post

Thanks for that offer, Ted. Yes I have Colossus. I'm very busy tomorrow but I'll see if I can put something together on Thursday, or soon after.

Can I assume you can load 8 instruments into one instance of Colossus with Receptor?

Post

That is correct....

Post

OK, I'll post again when I have something sorted.

Post

Ted,

I've sorted out some Receptor Power-Tests. I don't need to send MIDI files, just describe what to do. Shall I post the details?

And do you have Vanguard?
