I am looking into this option, as opposed to more computer, and for one thing, this factoid is a little unclear: "Receptor runs Windows-format DLLs, so if you have a Windows version of a VST, it may run on the box."
I would think that a .dll vst is a .dll vst. If This Box runs .dll vsts, what does the qualification "MAY " apecifically entail. IE: what will it NOT run.
[I use Kontakt 2, BFD, Reaktor 5, Absynth 3, Guitar Rig 2 and Kontakt-engine players EG: GPO, EWQLSO, {for convenience occasionally}.]
also how MUCH more efficient might this be than my other options? I want to hear from people using it for heavy VSTi useage.
Also seeing the Uniwire add-on, I would have thought that Receptor did what Uniwire does anyway, but I would've been wrong.
clarifications?

Yes, most VST should run. The main problem is those VST which need a form of registration. It's that aspect which render some unusable. For exemple, you cannot run PPG 2.2 because you cannot authorise it with the CD, you cannot run Korg Legacy because Receptor doesn'T support syncrosoft (yet), you will have difficulties installing some VSTs unless you know how to hack the registry, etc.

Uniwire and Receptor are two different things. Receptor on its own is more like a VST repository. A sound and effect machine which source is VST plugs.

With Uniwire, you can integrate Receptor in your sequencer and control its sounds and effects with no strain on the CPU, and with no audio or midi cabling, just the RJ-45 connection.

In other words, like the Virus Ti, but only working.
