HI
I downloaded some banks for fm7 from this site. How do I get them on my receptor?
I tried dropping them in the presets and sound banks folder. but it says something about rights or privileges...
and doesn'tt let me do so...

You drop a bank in FXB format, or a folder with FXP files in it in /Drop Installers Here. Then you click Install in the Setup page.
This is the sort of stuff that is explained in the manual.

If you are trying to put them somewhere in c:/samples/... and it won't let you, this is a known issue. Open a ticket on plugorama and they'll send you a "fixer" program that will give you write access.marypopn wrote:HI

Yes, but only to transfer samples, not presets and patches like for FM7.

Well, that's just it...the FM7 stores it's preset in a non-standard format, and they are in the samples dir. So once you have write access you can put more FM7 "banks" there (once you get write access you can put anything in there that you please, I store lots of proprietary bank formats here). Of course, these are only accessible from the FM7 GUI itself (they are not receptorized patches).Kermit Jagger wrote:Yes, but only to transfer samples, not presets and patches like for FM7.

Right, my mistake then.
I must admit to not use it much, and not yet in Receptor although I did the crossgrade thing.

I had a look and the FM7 patches are in /Banks and Patches, not in /Samples. This means patches are to be installed by dropping the FXB file in /Drop Installers Here.
I didn't see anything relating to FM7 in the folder /Samples.

Ok, Marypopn, I'm sure you are tired of me and Kermit going back-n-forth on this
. Here is the "real deal". Promise.
Kermit is right. the "receptorized" FM7 patches are right where they should be, not in Samples. When I first started using Receptor, I created a directory in C:/samples/Native Instruments called FM7 and I put some "f7a" bank files there which contain 128 patches (or "f7b" which contain 32). You can do the same....then from the FM7 GUI you click on the "LOAD" button, navigate to this directory and choose an f7a or f7b file. The benefit to doing it this way is then you'll see all of the patches listed in the "Library" page of the FM7 GUI and you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move around and audition patches quickly. Also, you can put these files anywhere you like on Receptor (that you have write access to) like in "My Documents" for instance. Not sure why I chose to put them in Samples way back when.
AND, I just discovered this (and this is great!). If you need the additional FM7 banks you have "receptorized" you can do it from your PC (I use Sonar, but I think any VST enabled host can so this). Just load the f7a file in FM7 in the host using the "LOAD" button in the FM7 gui...then use the host's "VST Save Bank" function to create an FXB file. Then drag that file to "Drop Installers Here" and install it. I just did this for the "factory2" bank that comes with FM7 as well as the Vol1/Vol2 sounds I bought on the NI site. Very cool.
Hope this helps!
