Receptor MOTU ADAT problems!

Hi,

I just purchased a 828mk2, I had the receptor hooked up fine yesterday via anolog 1/4 cables. However today I purcahsed a ADAT cable. And hooked up receptor to the input of the mk2 via ADAT.

Now on the 4 ADAT channels of the MK2 I hear constant hissing. not just inaudible but loud! When i play a note on receptor I can hear the sound but barely audible , and really distorted! When i pull out the cable it stops. I am wondering why this is happening? Does anyone else have a MOTU traveler, 828, 926 running with receptor through ADAT? they are most likely setup the same as mine

If so how do you get it to output without the problem?

Thanks!

Peter

Sounds like they're not in sync. Do you have them clocked properly? One should be the slave and the other master. And make sure that you have them setup as ADAT and not S/PDIF.

Or maybe I'm totally wrong. :)

Hi Peter,

have you been able to solve the problem? I am experiencing the same behaviour with my 828mk2, although syncing should be properly configured.

You should also have a S/PDIF out cable from the 828 to the S/PDIF in on the Receptor. In the set-up page of Receptor Set the "Sample Clock Source" to "S/PDIF Sync Enabled"

That sould do the trick ... !!!!

Thanks Chris!

So it isn't enough to just connect ADAT cable and slave the 828 to Receptor?

Hey Jens,

yup !!! you must have it clocked to the 828 as well ...
I found that out the hard way ;)

I use the ADAT outs all the time now when I do drum sessions at various studios.

Receptor has a stereo out (two channels ONLY from the ADAT port, not 8 - but you must select it in setup, there are three sets of ports - analog, S/PDIF and ADAT (Toslink), but only two sets of them can be in use at the same time.
