Is anyone using Jamstix on Receptor ?

Post

Yes. I load it directly into Receptor and can trigger it from MIDI drum pads. The sounds are very good and the latency is minimal, even with wireless MIDI units.

Screen re-draw and sample loading is slow, and there may still be some stability issues. Ralph (Jamstix developer) does not have a Receptor, but I've fed him some info once in a while. My interest in "Live Loops" (I wrote that part of the manual and now am Jamstix dealer) had prompted me to explore getting working Jamstix on Receptor. I wanted a "smart robot drummer" that I could control with my feet.

I first tried JS with Receptor in March 2005. It loaded, but crashed on re-entry to the GUI. Around May 2005, that got mostly solved.

But since Receptor does not have a transport control, it's not possible to let Jamstix operate in it's play-along "jam" modes. The bar counter in Receptor just climbs and climbs after power-up - no way to return to bar 1.

However, this was recently solved by using SonicBytes Phrazor VST on Receptor, as host to Jamstix. (i.e. Jamstix in Phrazor in Receptor)

This combination generally works (woohoo!), but there are still some instabilities and capabilities missing. I expect those will be fixed over time, especially with the input of more people like youself.

Very good. I shall buy Jamstix and see what can be done. Could also work with energyXT if working with Phrazor, which I have bought but not yet tried on Receptor.

Cheers.

To install Jamstix on Receptor, I put the DLLs in Unsupported Plugins\Rayzoon, then put all the rest in Samples\Jamstix (about 1.5GB), maintaining directory structures.
