Hi,
at this time seems that it only generates a sine wave...
would be very nice to have "more FMO" wavetables as is "more OSC"
thanx

Well, yes.

I mean, you can already use arbitrary waveforms (osc output, comb output, filter output, whatever) as source for the modulation, but I havn't made up my mind for anything different from sine as modulation target. I may do so one day, but it'll involve some more research, because it'll go into aliasing too fast with the technique I use now. I might have to oversample or something... we'll see...

hehe :) i'd love an aliased version too ....
i'm a nasty boy :D

Hehe, you can get aliasing out of the current setup pretty easily... just use "FM self" on an FMO and put the FM depth to a little more than 50 ;)

thanx...but..i really need to modulate a square wave phase at audio rate with a sine osc...maybe i can use an lfo...
do they arrive a t audio-rate?...but they don't follw the keyboard pitch :(

i'll build something with synthmaker :)

Well, I have solved the problem in FilterscapeVA, but it's a bit harder to accomplish in a modular fashion.

Maybe at some point... indeed...

while you're at it, filterscape had some kind of filter fm as well.... ;)

Well, *my* version of Z2 has such a filter as well, wrapped into a module called XMF (Cross Modulation Filter, aka Xtreme MuthaFuckar). But a single voice using one XMF in mono still costs about 10% cpu. So it's rather something for a subsequent update (2.1?), for when there's time to spend a couple of weeks on optimization. I think it's actually the best sounding filter I've ever written, but it's not yet ready for prime time. Its self oscillation is pretty yummy even when there's no input: http://www.u-he.com/music/XMF.mp3

Cheers,

ah, i remember that demo, yes, i want it :D

Yeah, it's not gonna be too far away. I want it, too ;)

I think I'll have to damp the resonance above 5kHz though, because otherwise people will get serious ear trouble. When I demoed it to a friend who has a slight tinitus, he went crazy when I came up with those Jarre-ish Oxygene II missile sweeps from 20kHz down to 10Hz.

The funny thing about the self oscillation is, if it's full on, the filter frequency doesn't tune in on the input material anymore. And there's a region where it still tries to catch on, but then sometimes looses contact to the input. Kind of undecided state. This sounds very analogish in a good way.

We'll see how it pans out then...
