Sequencing with Receptor

I want to create sequences with the instruments in my Receptor to use in live performance. Can I use the sequencer in my Technics KN7000 keyboard to record and playback with the Receptor? If so, how? If not, what are some other options?

Hi Joyride,
At the risk of errors, not knowing what the KN7000 sequencer is like .....
The Receptor is purely a MIDI module, responding to incoming MIDI messages. These incoming MIDI messages must be supplied by the sequencer.
So, the first question is: Can your sequencer record and output MIDI information on tracks (not assigned to voices on the KN7000)? At a basic level, your external sequencer should be able to do this, and also send Bank/patch change information.
If all of this is "yes", you should be able to simply attach a MIDI cable from KN7000 to Receptor MIDI in,
Setup a Receptor Multi (such that you have the VSTIs and their programs set to the MIDI channels you wish to trigger), and then record/play those MIDI channels from your KN7000 keyboard or sequencer.
Some gotchas:
Be careful of assigning/sending MIDI information on Receptor's Global MIDI channel - you probably don't want your sequencer to change multi's midstream
Hopefully the KN7000 is not purely a GM synth. You probably wish to assign generic MIDI bank/patch changes (or none at all), instead of having the sequencer force GM bank/patch changes at the beginning of playback.
Hope this helps, Regards,
Kevin L.
