Not sure how to tackle this one.
I've been writing patches for my wonderful new synth but i keep running out of polyphony and get horrible clicks. The patch i've done has a longish amp release which is obviously causing the problems. Is there anyway we can use the unused osc/voices to pick up these stragglers.
Hope you can help Lennar.
Thanks

Hi Gee,
Yes these clicks have been a thorn in my eye for a while now. They are caused by the current voice stealing algorithm, which needs free polyphonic voices for fading out voices. So if you use all 16 voices, there are no voices left for fading and the voice stealing will start producing clicks. I'm going to rewrite the voice management later anyway, but I'll see if I can find a fix for this in the next update already.
For now you can lower the polyphony with a few voices until the clicking is gone, and use delay and reverb to lengthen the tail of the sound instead of using very long release (this will also be much more CPU efficient by the way).

Thanks Lennard
It happens when the polyphony is set at any level.
The only way i can see to help this is either increase the poly to 32 or somehow utilise the unused oscs for note stealing.
I have to say this is the only bad part to this fantastic synth. So get your hammer out and fix it please

No, it will only happen when all polyphonic voices are in use and you press more NEW keys simultaneously than the number of free voices left. So when you set poly to 14, it would only produce clicks when all 14 voices are in use AND you press more than 2 new keys at the same time.Gee wrote:It happens when the polyphony is set at any level.
Please confirm that it works like this on your patch.

Yes thats what happens with my patches. What i meant was it happens at even at 16 note poly regardless of how many osc's are being used.
How do other software developers get around this problem ?
