Reverse Sample Playback for DK+

Hi,
I guess this feature would be a great addition. Maybe make it both an option in the pad editor (so that it always is played reverse when triggered) and an additional option in the step sequencer (if you just want a reverse playback sometimes or, when reversed in the pad editor, re-reverserve it to normal playback).
What do you think?
cheers, akj

I would love this!
Another idea would be to program a probability that a sample would randomly play reverse rather than forward.

talking about randomization in the step sequencer: it would be great to have randomization features like in the new cerebrum 3:
a) probability of notes in the step seq for actually beeing played
b) ramdomisation of playback start position
option a would imo be more important than b, but with the two in combination you can really easily create never repeating sequences just from 16 steps.
have a look at cerebrum for this. a similar functionality in dk+ (and also dks) would be a great, great plus.

actually, something like chaos designer in stylus rmx would be the killer. and what is more: it does not seem to be such a big deal to implement something similar, since this is not loops.

all great ideas AKJ, but maybe I have to shift the DK+
in another price range,
anyway things at NUSofting are going to change a little,
more later I'll write,

will be mostly new development directions and products policyAKJ wrote:well, I guess for this people would be willing to pay more. Maybe have a dk++ with an upgrade path from dk+. Curious to hear the nusofting news.

good simple idea, but a lot of work to implement it, <grin>AKJ wrote:another, very simple, idea for improvement: tripple stokes in the step sequencer

now that we are collecting all these nice ideas (and making you work hard
) I got another one: in order to avoid machine gun like effects (especially when using single layered sounds) it would be quite useful to have a randisation feature like this: a sliders which sets the randomisation amount of velocity and pitch variation, ie you trigger a sample repretedly with the same velocity, but it is played with slight (or more heavy) pitch and velocity variations. if a filter is set, also the filte settings could be varied according to the set randomisation amount -> machine gun effect impossible.
nice idea, isn't it?

again about automatic pattern variations: erratic has a good and simple solution for this. have a look into it. this would be a killer feature.
yes, and 3/4 support is desirable too. I know that one can work around this but to have it implemented properly would be a great help. with all this dk+ would be the top of drum samplers imo...

well, I thought about the best way of randomisation again and came to the conclsuion:
maybe, if you implement such a feature, make the velo and pitch variation parameters part of the pad editor, thus it will be also available for avaiding machine gun effects when triggering live.
So you just need to ad a per step probability parameter and the automatic variation/rondomisation can take off (the step sequencer thus also would not become cluttert)
what do you think luigi?
cheers, akj
