Prokeys 88sx and Receptor via USB

I am considering a M-Audio ProKeys 88sx for gigging with my Receptor. Keyboard Mag gives it great marks. I know the only documented boards that can work with Receptor via USB are the Radium and Oygen. Does anyone know if the Prokeys 88sx works with Receptor? Is there a list of other boards that work with Receptor via USB but are "unsupported"?

Thanks!

It will work, but you still need the AC power supply, the sx does not get power from the USB port.

That's good news. Thank you. One additional question if I may...

If I send MIDI from the 88sx to Receptor can I also plug an additional keyboard into the 5-pin MIDI IN on Receptor and how does Receptor manage the 16 channels if stuff comes in from both USB and MIDI?

Thank you.

Hi Todd,

I often work with a keyboard on USB and a keyboard on the MIDI port. This works great, as long as you keep them on different MIDI channels.

That is excellent news. Thank you, Kevin.

By the way - what happens if both boards transmit on the same channel? Other than two boards triggering the same sounds is there some problem that Receptor has?

No - I do this all the time with my Downtown James Brown tribute band - frequently an entire song uses one upper manual patch, I set the lower manual to that channel as well and it works perfectly.

Hi Todd,

I didn't mean to imply that things would go haywire if two keyboards were on the same MIDI channel - but you can get some anomolies - such as sustained notes on one keyboard being released from the other keyboard, contention for sustain pedal, ..... things like that.

This would be no worse than 2 keyboards on the same MIDI channel hooked up to any MIDI sound device.
