I love swing :love:
How soon can we expect to see it implemented?

Post

Indeed great feature!

No implementation timetable yet.

This doesn't mean it's far from here, nor the contrary.

By the way: i have a question:

The most basic form of swing/shuffle is to delay the 2nd and 4th 16th notes in a beat.

The amount of swing defines the amount of delay.

But the above assumes a 4/4 beat.

Now how to swing a 3/4 beat?

Post

Given you're swinging within a single beat, I don't think 3 beat to the measure makes it different from four beats to the measure. You still split the beat to four 16ths and swing the 2nd & 4th. 1-t-Tsh-t 2-t-Tsh-t 3-t-Tsh-t 1-t-Tsh-t 2-t-Tsh-t 3-t-Tsh-t...

I'll rephraze: what if you're working in a 1/12th grid, how to swing then?

Hear:

4/4 -> 16ths : http://www.mutools.com/temp/m1.mp3
4/4 -> 16ths swinged: http://www.mutools.com/temp/m2.mp3
4/4 -> 12ths : http://www.mutools.com/temp/m3.mp3

Now how to swing the 12th version?

Post

Honestly I rarely if ever use 1/24 note swing.
I always swing on 16ths.

I know alot of apps have the option though.
So imagine someone will put it to good use, but I believe most users will use strait 16ths when they swing a beat.

Post

By the way are you planning to make swing available as a part of quantizing, or a midi effect?
Either way works for me, but I'm just curious how it will be implemented. :)

Post

Can't answer that yet, because still under research.

Post

OK, LUNA PR7 will have a "1/16th Swinged" and "1/32th Swinged" quantize grid ;)

Swing Factor is user definable.

Post

Yessss!!!
I can't wait to give the new swing feature a spin. :)
