Hello,
LUNA PreRelease 8.4 is out.
This is what's changed:
* New: Audio Part context function "Play Entire File"
* Tuned: When working with Tempo Changes, and there is no starting tempo event (at 1.1.0000),
LUNA defaults to take the first tempo change as the starting tempo.
* Tuned: Better tempo value editing (i.e. everywhere you can input a tempo value)
* Tuned: When recording audio, no redundant overview file creation anymore => faster results
* Tuned: When no external audio editor has been chosen yet,
the Audio Lab kindly proposes you to choose one when choosing that function
* Tuned: Changed strategy wrt external audio editing: the audio file must be manually re-opened.
This has the advantage that the sequencer can keep on playing! More details below.
* Tuned: "Monitor Audio Input" and "List All Inputs" back in the Rack context menu
* Fixed: On positioning the play position when stopped, audio files didn't start playing at proper location
* Fixed: Sometimes audio parts were drawn incorrectly
* Fixed: Crash bug when audio parts were zoomed in a lot
* Fixed: When starting recording with countdown, audio files didn't play
* Fixed: A handful of other bugfixes wrt the new Tempo Change system
Apologies again for the "bad" 8.3 version.
Hope this 8.4 version corrects everything. If not, please feedback.
Cheers!

About external audio editing (Windows only (for now))
With LUNA 8.4, the strategy of editing audio files in an external audio editor has been changed.
Previously, all audio files were automatically released on stop. So you had to stop the sequencer in order to edit an audio file externally.
This has changed.
Now you can keep on playing the sequencer.
Just go to the audio lab, and choose "Edit in ..." (editor name will be there) from the context menu.
LUNA will temporary close the file, so it can be edited externally.
When you come back to LUNA, LUNA will detect any changes and ask you whether it's ok to reload (=re-open) the audio file.
Last but not least: In the audio lab, there is another function beneath the "Edit in ...":
"Start Editing" or "End Editing".
These functions allow to manually close/re-open the file, so that, once the other audio editor is already open, you can easily switch between LUNA and the other editor, properly maintaining the "ownership".
If some thing is not clear, feel free to ask

Here I was expecting an 8.3b and along comes new stuff. Hopefully I'll get some time to play with it this weekend.

hey just started a cool project in luna using the modular environment... it feels very liberating to be able to connect plugins how you see fit!
i guess from using it a short time i have a few wishes:
if i set up a midi controller to cutoff say in a filter plugin, and then go on to another plugin, the thru focus follows my item selection. i think i would like a way of designating that input to stay when i change to another plugin. perhaps a default global input layer that passes only controllers and sysex to all but but everything to the focused plugin? maybe midi input nodes within the plugin area... i want to be able to fully use this modular plugin area with hardwired midi input. am i missing a way to do this already?
sorry if this sounds stupid lol
how about a gain stage after each plugin as part of the luna interface? it would eliminate an extra plugin... you could also allow program selection and other menu functions in the interface. menus are good for newbs.
id love a way to lasso many items in the modular area and move them as a group... better yet, if you could hide them under a single 'grouped' interface and perhaps route key controllers of all plugins contained to the containers interface ready for association to your hardware controller...
i have other requests for the modular area but i think they can wait. or maybe theyre covered already somewhere as a freeware plugin, i have no clue. ill have to research... and this is the place isnt it?
other than that i really like this direction! cheers jo youve got something cool again!

I know what you mean, it's on the WhishList!> DiGiT < wrote:if i set up a midi controller to cutoff say in a filter plugin, and then go on to another plugin, the thru focus follows my item selection. i think i would like a way of designating that input to stay when i change to another plugin. perhaps a default global input layer that passes only controllers and sysex to all but but everything to the focused plugin? maybe midi input nodes within the plugin area... i want to be able to fully use this modular plugin area with hardwired midi input. am i missing a way to do this already?
Not sure about this...how about a gain stage after each plugin as part of the luna interface? it would eliminate an extra plugin... you could also allow program selection and other menu functions in the interface. menus are good for newbs.
Maybe use Racks then? They include a Gain-Pan-Mute-Meter combi
On the whishlist alreadyid love a way to lasso many items in the modular area and move them as a group...
Maybe later. The MPA is already complex enough for LUNA's current state. There are other important fields that need to be worked on!better yet, if you could hide them under a single 'grouped' interface and perhaps route key controllers of all plugins contained to the containers interface ready for association to your hardware controller...
And the Racks offer you a kind of grouping
Also thanks to your feedback!other than that i really like this direction! cheers jo youve got something cool again!
