Problem with very low volume at Receptor Audio Outputs

Hi,
I've just received an ex-demo Receptor, and the signal at the outputs is very low at both the headphones output and the line outputs. I've got to set the input gain of the EMU 1820 to +12dB and rise the volume of the amplifier to listen a weak signal with high background noise.
This happens no matter if I select the Input Source or the instrument input, with all factory patches and rising all the volumes to clipping levels.
At the manual I can't find references about impedance or levels. Any suggestion?
Thank You!

Today I've found something:
At the Output Assignmens, the ANALOG L/R + ADAT 1/2 Outputs are Disabled by Default. If I enable them, then the sound level at the outputs is correct
The problem is that the Analog Outputs are Disabled by Default. They're disabled again if I press the "Defaults" button, or as soon as I select a new patch.
How can I set the Analog Outputs to ON by default?
This is how my Output assignment screen looks by default. Notice how the M (Master) button is sunked (and I can not change that):
Does it look like that at your Remote Control?
To activate the Audio Output I have to individually select the channels like this:

But it's not ON. Otherwise I would hear the sound at the audio output without the need to select all channels individually every time that I load a patch (like I show at the second picture).mrmost wrote:That just means it's on and you cannot turn it off. Not a bug!
I know that Uniwire disables the Audio Output, but uniwire is disabled. I've also tried to enable Uniwire and select the option "Enable Receptor Audio+Midi I/O" but the Audio options are still disabled.
If it's not a bug, how can I enable the Audio Outputs by default? I can't believe that the Analog outputs of the Receptor are muted when it comes from the factory, and everytime you select a Patch you have to enable them one by one. There must be some option that I'm missing. Maybe it's so basic that I can not see it
Thank you vey much

On my Receptor, the default setup matches your first image (the one with the red arrow). The sunken blue button is also there, indicating a "hard wired" connection, so I can hear the Master channel just fine from the Analog outputs.
This config screen is a bit confusing, since it needs to be read from the top down and then out of the left side. For example "Channel 1 goes to the Master Bus".
Even the note 1 on the dialog reads backwards. It says "1.) Analog L/R and ADAT 1/2 cannot be disabled on Receptor's Master (M) channel". It should say "Receptor's Master (M) channel cannot be disabled on Analog L/R and ADAT 1/2 outputs."
Your solution (shown in your second picture) is interesting. From it, I assume that effects added into the Master channel will not be heard vey well or at all.
You can demonstrate this by starting fresh, configuring as in your second image, then loading a VSTi into Channel 1, then loading a delay effect into the Master channel. I'm supposing that the delay would not be heard, or would be very low level. You might have to return to the default Output Assignments to hear the (quiet) Master.
Now here's the part where I'm just guessing: Since you can hear audio from the Analog outputs, when you use your special configuration, I would guess that the hardware is not broken. I'd say that the routing is done in software. So, you might benefit by loading or re-loading the 1.5 OS.
Comments?

Thank you gregh1. That's what i thought: it loks like a strange routing at the software. Now here's the part where I'm just guessing: Since you can hear audio from the Analog outputs, when you use your special configuration, I would guess that the hardware is not broken. Do you know how to re-load the OS? It is not possible to install it again in the conventional way.
You're right about my Master Output: it's always disabled and I can not enable it!

I can resume the problem like this:
- The audio from the Master Channel is not heard at the Analog Outputs.
- My only way to hear something is to assign the channels directly to the Analog Output, like I show at this picture:

So, the "link" in between the Master Channel and the Analog output is "broken".
Another "side effect" is that the volume knob at the front pannel of the Receptor does not affect the volume of the headphones. The level of the headphones can only be controlled from the volume controls of each individual channel

Spunds like you might want to replace the unit, rather than just return it. I have never had this kind of issue, and you demo unit may simpply be in need of an OS exchange. Contact Plugorama tech support, they will get you straightened out - or take the unit back, but DO get another one. They really are great boxes for doing what they do.
