Receptor and Midi Merge?!

Hi,

I play guitar with a guitar2midi converter, where i use my distorted guitarsound and use synth sounds playing at the same time from the same guitar, this leaves me with two separate midifootcontrollers. One controlling my guitarsetup (Boss GTPro) and the other one controlling my synthesizer setup, in this case the receptor.

Now i was thinking, the receptor has a lot of great sounding ampsimulation vst's and other effects that could be used for guitar, which would render the Boss GTPro obsolete.
I would like to use both vsti'synths and amp-simulation vst's at the same time on the Receptor, which means receiving multiple programchange data and CC's to different midichannels from my midifootcontrollers (they only have midi out's)...As i see it the only solution for having several midi in's on the receptor would be to use a midimerger box.

Now i've looked around and the only midimergers still in production come from Midi Solutions.
Anyone have had any experience if they are any good? And would that work with the receptor???

Any advices or other solutions are welcome...

Best Regards,
Juan

hi Juan, just happened to see your problem and I can help. I bought a midi merge box from Midi solutions and it works perfectly on receptor, no fuss, it just works. so i can now use two different synths live to play different channels on receptor.

wonder if you can help me in return. I just cannot seem to be able to control any plug in paramaters using midi CC messages. I have ticked the box on the set up tab but still nothing seems to work apart from volume. I have tried different synths and sequencers but I can't get any knobs moving! can you help? also I understand about the NRPN things just about and the midi learn, but thoses numbers like for example B1 63 B1 62 05, don't mean anything to me.

cheers

Hi,

Thanx for your reply, then i will buy a Midisolutions midimerger!
Now for your question, i'm having trouble with CC's myself. In my situation where i play guitar using a guitar2midi converter i us a midifootcontroller that has 2 built-in expression pedals, one is assigned to control the modulationwheel cc and the other to the volume (cc7). That was my solution to be able to control specific parameters, since the modulation wheel mostly is a standard in all vsti synths, i am able to assign parameters usually not assignalble onto other cc's and controll them with my footcontroller, but with the volume cc7 i need to have it reversed and that's not possible today, hopefully Muse will add more advanced midicontrol features to the OS.

Let's hope and pray...

Best regards,
Juan
