It plops when releasing key on keyboard...

Hi!

I have a little problem using Sylenth1 in FLStudio 7. When I use the Init Bank, turning the wave to sinus and I press a key on my keyboard, there is a sort of plop after releasing the key. Is that normal? It is irritating fo me. Another thing is the routing of velocity to volume. If volume is already on 10 for Oscillator A, is that ok, that there is no accent when hitting a key? There is a litte less information in the documentation... ;)

Have fun

That pop sound happens on alot of synthesizers, it just means the release stage of the envelope is too short. It suddenly has to drops to zero. So whenever you hear a plop (or a click) just move the release slider up a bit and it will go away.

The volume does go up with velocity -> Mix A or B, just not alot, even if the volume is far below ten. If you really need velocity -> Volume you could put both destinations to Mix A and you'd double the effect. Go ahead, abuse the destinations. There are 8 of them after all :hihi:

Thanx for telling. I will consider that... :)

Hm. I have put velocity on Volume A on all 8 positions pulling the knobs to max right, but the effect is minimal (using only OSC of Part A). And I can't get a real gentle sound if I hit the key softly. How can I get more dynamic?

You could also add Velocity -> Cutoff A. Changing the cutoff frequency has a much bigger impact on the sound than just changing the volume (not so much on sine waves).
Just make sure the filter type isn't set to nothing -- (bypass mode) when you adjust the cutoff knobs.

Hi Fhangor,

The sinus plops after release when the release time is really short, like Jeff already explained. Just add a bit of release to fix it.

As for the velocity modulation, all modulation parameters are additive. Thus, if you set Volume to 10 and velocity -> volume modulation on 10, the resulting volume level will be 10 at 0 velocity to 20 at max velocity.

To get the full dynamic range, you'd have to set the original volume to 0, and use velotity -> volume on 10. Usually it will be a bit easier to use velocity -> Mix AB modulation instead of volume. Set the Mix A en B sliders to 0 to get full range dynamics. (The Mix parameters control the volume output of the parts btw).

Thanx for the answers! That helps... :)

Meanwhile: I'm really satisfied with the sound of your synth, Lennard. Was a good buy... :)
