Hi,

I downloaded the demo synlenth1 and installed it into the default vst directory C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins. Unfortunately not one of my vst hosts -- Live, Phrazor or Traktion -- recognises Sylenth1Demo.dll as a valid vst plugin :?

Am I missing something? All my other vst's work without any problems.

Thanks,
Andy.

I use it in Live 6.0.7 without ANY problem. Tried the demo first and had no trouble, so...which Live Version are you running?

Don't know exactly, but:

In Cubase the directory wouldn't be C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins... but C:\Programme\Steinberg\VstPlugins

When I install into the Program Files-Directory, Cubase doesn't find the plugin...

Hi adl,

Thanks for your reply. I'm using Live v6.0.5 but it doesn't seem to work with any host! I've downloaded it several times, uninstalled, reinstalled to no avail. Sylenth1Demo.dll has the following properties...

Location: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins
Size: 3.31MB (3,472,896 bytes)
Modified: 06 April 2007, 19:28:24
Version: 1.2.1.0

Everything looks fine, I'm just wondering if the dll is corrupted in some way?

Weird! And this is your default pluginfolder with all other plugin you use?

Maybe try that: Create a new folder somewhere, install Sylenth1 to this new folder, choose this new folder in Ableton (or any other host) as pluginfolder and look if Sylenth1 will be recognized. If not...sorry :-( no further ideas except contact Lennard, maybe he has an idea and he is really helpfull!
Good luck, Sylenth1 is a geat synth, really hope you can make it work!

My normal VST folder is D:\App.Media\App.Media.Audio\App.Media.Audio.Plugin.Vst but that didn't work either -- I thought maybe the lengthy path was causing the problem which is why I then tried installing into the sylength suggested default on C:\.

Anyway, thanks for your time adl and filterfilter. I probably will contact the author...

Hi,

Can you try running Sylenth1 in a small host like this one to see if that works or if it returns any error messages?

If the demo package successfully unzips and installs, then the dll is not corrupted (unless it's corrupted after installation by a virus or bad sectors on the harddrive maybe. The filesize is correct though).

Hi Lennard,

Thanks for your reply and for suggesting this. When I fire up savihost I get the following error...

...but only for sylenth1. For example TAL-U-NO_60.dll loads and runs no problems. Tonight I'll try this on my second pc.

Andy.

Quick update... it loads in Savihost on my 2nd pc, and that's across the network using the exact same files which fail on my 1st pc. So there's something going on with my machine and I've no idea what! :?

Post

Hi Andy, I've sent you a PM, please check if that file runs on your pc.

I have the exact same problem. Listened to the demo songs of this synth and got interested so downloaded the demo version, but it can not be recognized in any host I having my VSTPlugin folder at D:\ like dizzib has. All my other plugins are working perfectly well, and I have no errors on my HD nor any viruses on my machine. Yes, just wanted to say that more people seems to have the same problem ;) see you

Please make sure Date Execution Prevetion (DEP) is not enabled on your host software. You can check the Windows DEP settings as follows (WinXP SP2):

Click Start -> Run and type: sysdm.cpl
Then go to Advanced -> Performance -> Settings -> Data Execution Prevention and make sure that it is set to: "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only"

is this vst mac only?

It's PC-only at this time. A Mac version is coming, according to Lennard, possibly in Q1 2008.
Will mix for fun
