Sorry, I just deleted my post because I (for some reason) got confused and posted about Tascam's FireOne instead of the Mackie Onyx Satellite. And since I don't know much about that unit, I'll just say hello and good-bye. Please forgive the brain-fart.

I brought the Onyx Satallite not long ago and hated it. It went straight back to the store I brought it from and brought a Focusrite Saffire Pro 10 instead.
At the present time I had it, pc users could not mix recording from outputs and DAW. I found it to fiddly and very untidy.
It also took up to much space and looked like a throw back of Roland 80's gear.
You only have to look at the Mackie forums to see all sorts of problems people are having.
Oh yes, there's no midi ins and outs to and the audio would unexpetedley stop working.
IMO, avoid at all cost.

Great unit, but needs better driver support. Most people are buying the universal firewire driver to make it work well:

It's a horribly conceived product. With all the competition, it's increadible Mackie would market such a dog product. I've heard that the interface for the base unit and the pull out unit wears out fast. Horrible. Crappy drivers, no midi. What were they thinking?
