Just sharing my joy!

Wow, what a synth! Such a wonderful depth of sound, yet so easy and intuitive to program.

Urs, you're a genius.

Thanks! I sure plan to!

Welcome auricle.
(Pssst. Keep at it - Zebra2 is an amazingly rewarding playground for complex sound design! I've only scratched the surface so far...)

Post

I bought this a few weeks ago myself. It is truly awesome and I think I will be using it a lot :)

Don't forget this one so you can load single cycle waveforms into it. :D

Thanks all of you for your warm words.

And thanks jupiter8! I have Cakewalk Rapture too so I have loads of single cycle waveforms ready for Zebra wholegrain goodness!

Unfortunatley Z2 was'nt quite up to my mad ideas just yet so it only exports the first 12 waves. Just so you know. There's an update coming when it will do all 16. I probably should write a small manual for it.

Okay, thanks. I look forward to the upgrade.

BTW, is wav, aiff import into Z2 planned for a future upgrade?

Welcome to the sounds of an African Safari! :P :hihi:
Seriously though enjoy :tu:
Make sure to learn what the different oscillator fx do, use the XY pads they really can bring a sound to life, and don't forget to pick up the Transmission sound bank. You get tons of oscillator waves, synth "starting points", and mseg envelope presets, not to mention the presets are great.

It's been planned for ages... but Urs (me) has got pretty ambitious plans for a sampling solution (ambitious = extensive development time), and looking at jupiter8's sample->waveform tool... d'oh... we'll see...

Yeah,blame me! :hihi:

a simple sample module for Z2 would be great!

its a shame Urs is but one :(

maybe Z2.5 :)

The following is just my own thoughts about this subject.I have no affiliation with U-He in any way shape or form, neither do i have the ability to read Urs's mind. So all is just my 2 cents on the subject.

Introducing sample playback/import in Z2 is opening a gigantic can of worms. Even importing single cycle waveforms.
The number of considerations are just mindblowing for even a simple concept like that. What if the wave does'nt loop correctly ? What if it is 1.5 cycles ? And so on. I choose the FFT/iFFT path to get "nice" fitting waveforms and frankly i'm surprised noone asked why the wave differs from the loaded wav. (Could be noone's using Wav2Z2 of course  ).

Then the feature request starts to come. Why can't we load anything but single cycle waveforms?I want to load longer samples. Why can't we have multi sampling ? And velocity switching ? Is it possible to do time stretch ? I'd like an integrated wave editor. Akai import ?
Sample resynthesis. And so on.

Suddenly people will have all kinds of unrealistic expectations on what Z2 should be able to do. I've already seen it.

The way it is right now i think is ideal from Urs's point of view. Z2 is a synth. End of story.
But by opening the possibilty to 3rd party he gets benefits without having responsibility and having to support it. If something does'nt work. Blame me! :hihi: And i in return can just tell you to piss of.

And he does'nt have to deal with a lot of feature/support requests. Only my crazy ideas/requests (a full time job initself :D).

Once again, these are my thoughts. I have no idea i that actually is the case. I have no stake in this.
