hey all,
just wondered if anyone knows either:
1.how to disable aftertouch given by mpd16 as it is input
or
2. how to disable the controller sent by mpd16 post input
.. reason is stupid aftertouch messes up cymbal hits sometimes and mutes them in ezdrummer, pisses me off so bad.

Tracktion needs an option to turn this on and off (much as I like to use aftertouch it can get in the way if you don't want it). If you can't turn it off in the hardware how about using a midi filter to filter out the aftertouch signal? One of these should do it.

a big issue im noticing is that despite the lines showing on the midi clip that it is being used, i can't seem to locate the controller that is doing this... (you know its usually highlighted in a different color)... strange.

ok in my studio now - looks like nfmidimon its showing if i hold down a pad, it's saying:

nothing about CC's or anything
if i record, i see lines showing something is happening, but when i go into controllers nothing is highlighted to show that something is going on...
what cc is this that i should disable in there?
once i figure it out, i will just throw it into the ezd rack i made

Aftertouch is called Channel Pressure. It should be in the main type list before you go to the CC list.

strange... looks like the mpd isnt sending that then... its sending something but its not selectable on any cc list.... !?

The MPD16 sends polyphonic aftertouch not channel aftertouch. I can't get it to show in the MIDI editor either. However, if you want to get rid of it, select the clip and find the option to "delete all controller data" from the clip. This will remove the aftertouch, although the clip's display doesn't update immediately, i.e. those vertical white lines don't disappear until you select something else.

It's an interesting problem how to represent poly aftertouch without a list editor as it has two parameters - note number and amount of pressure, so do you represent it on a note by note basis or the whole lot in one go?rpc9943 wrote:i mean this is crazy we cant access it!

I expect there is some sort of fitler plug-in that you could use. Presumably you'd prefer that so you don't get any funnies whilst you're playing?

lol wow. umm yeah rich but do you know of any filter plugins that can handle aftertouch pressure per note and completely disable it?

If you're on PC then you could use MIDIOx and MIDIYoke to filter it out on the way into Tracktion.
Perhaps there's a feature request here - optional filters on the virtual MIDI inputs.
