Playback stuttering

I have the standard receptor hooked up to my mac via logic and when I trigger the receptor playback slows down and speeds up in a stuttering fashion. I can only think there is not enough RAM, if I'm not mistaken is this due to the RAM cache being empty and having to wait for the RAM to fill up again? I am only running around 30 plugins at once including effects.

Hmm. That doesnt sound like a RAM issue.

If you had pops and clicks, or dropouts, thats one thing. When it "slows down" do you mean it drops out?

You might try to increase the bufferson your host and on the Receptor. Ususally the Receptor should be twice that of the host. I dont use Logic, but when I go into playback (not recording) I will boost it to 1024ms on Digital Performer and similar on the Receptor. Play with those and see what you get.

What plug ins are you running?

Hi Schubert

Are you running Uniwire? Are you streaming digital signal from Receptor to the Logic DAW? If all you have is a MIDI connection from your DAW to Receptor, there should be no affect on your Logic playback (this would be a good baseline thing to check anyway).

If you hear the stuttering from the VSTis on Receptor, it may possibly be due to excessive MIDI controller information to a particular plug.

Anyway, it would be more helpful for you to post what your configuration is, and where the stuttering is occurring (Daw? Receptor?).

I am going to record the midi data from logic and into a midi file player and see if I get any playback anomalies, I'll let you know the results.

It's definately not receptor, I've just changed from transmit all midi ports on Logic and dedicated to port A on my midi sport interface and transfered the data to a midi file recorder. The piece plays back perfectly, now to take the baby to rehearsal next week.
