Hi,

I work for a Catholic Church and would like to be able to use the "Muse Receptor" as part of the music provided for mass. I have some money in my budget to pay someone to help get me started.

I sequence most of the music we use in mass. I would like to start using the "Muse Receptor" as soon as possible. I find the "User's Guide" very confusing...using terms that I don't understand.

I need to tell someone what I want to do...and then that person show me how to do it.

Thanks for any interest.

It sounds like you already do some sequencing. If you could provide a little more specific question on Receptor's role in your setup it might help "get the ball rolling".

I don't currently use my Receptor as a multi-timbral module but if I were to do that, I think I would just "go with the flow" of how Receptor is already setup. The mixer is already set as a midi channel 1-16 module of sorts. I would just decide which sounds I want to come from Receptor (and on which midi channel I want them) and then instantiate that instrument into that Receptor mixer channel. Be advised that if you are using multiple sample based sounds, you will run out of ram at some point. For example, insted of using Kontakt 2 in multi mode in one Receptor mixer channel, instantiate K2 in 3 or 4 different mixer channels and use one sound per channel (making sure the sound is receiving on the correct midi channel)then mix with other synth and/or sampled sounds. I think people get into trouble when they expect too much out of Receptor in terms of using too many "high test" sample based instruments at once. In the early days of multi-timbral synths - sure they were 8 or 16 part multi-timbral, but they only had 16 notes of polophony - that didn't leave much after the drums were done. Now were up against ram "walls", but this to will change.

I think the best way to use your Receptor would be in conjunction with other modules you may already be using - save Receptor for the "exposed" sounds or where you need a really great version of whatever instrument. Sorry for the long and winding post. I don't know if I even hit on the question. Good Luck
