Have you ever considered what Wusik does and lower the price a bit for a group buy?

God I love the synth. I mean I own absynth(and komplete) so that's where the money went, and although the synth is probably worth more than it already costs, it's still a little bit out of my range for quite a while.

So I know I'm not alone in this situation, but will there every be a Group Buy?

Or maybe even an academic version. I mean it's perfect for teaching a varity of things, especially sound design, and the concepts of a ton of types of synthesis.

Group Buy?

Academic Version?

Or, save me pennies m8.

----Unless it's over with, Urs was doing a very generous "dinosaur crossgrade" deal, check into that on the official site, it was $50 off if it's still going on. Otherwise, yeah, sell something, save some money up, or umm, wait for a Zebra 3 group buy maybe, I dunno. :D

Well!

Zebra was available in the original LUG Group Buy in 2004. Back then the word Group Buy came from "Logic User Group", short LUG.

It actually was the first Group Buy that became popular in other forums, which led Camel Audio to subsequently do their historical Cameleon Group Buy. After that, everybody and his auntie did Group Buys, rendering this concept a bit, uhm, underwhelmingly unspecial. One could argue, I contributed quite a bit in making this concept popular so that I also contributed a bit in every penny you could save so far.

Back then it was a great source to raise some money to get the business started. On the other side it had lots of side effects. Many people sign into GBs not because they love what they buy, but because they fell for the bargain. Resulting in problems such as the infamous KVR spell "I really tried to like it". In short, a GB tends to give us a lot of lesser happy customers. Thus, unless one desperately needs to raise some funds I'd highly recommend not to go GB.

That said, I see lots of problems here, such as the people who feel betrayed because they paid the full price shortly after or before a GB. And of course not all of those who sign up will finally buy.

So d'oh... can we just say, I don't like Group Buys anymore?

Yes, and then there's the edu dilemma... What I do is, universities can get mass discounts (like 7 for 5). Anything else is just not doable for me - I don't have a retail network with people who can check your certificates...

Instead, there's the Dinosaur Crossgrade, there are u-he sponsored competitions on the web every now and then, there are pre-order offers for the brave & faithful, there are updates & upgrades that are commonly free or ridiculously cheap.

Cheers,

;) Urs
