Midi Clock OUT

I want to send midi clock out to a Yamaha ClickStation. Basically I'll have an arpeggiator running on the receptor (like impOSCar or Vanguard) , set the System midi tempo to whatever, take a midi cable out to the in of the yamaha clickstation. The Clickstation will follow whatever midi clock it receives.

My question is, does the receptor send midi clock out ?

Thanks!

Jeff

No, but as a work around I've used an external midi clock pedal, plugged into the receptor midi 'in', then plugged from receptors 'thru' to another devices 'in' .. this then sets midi clock for both receptor and the other device nicely.

p.s. , i use a USB port to play the receptor, midi port for clock only

hmm. i need to set it on a specific bpm for the song. I have a 34one2 pedal but see, the drummer has the clickstation and I don't want to mess him up with a bad foot tap tempo by accident? Now, I also have a Novation RemoteSL that I'm using with receptor so I wonder if I can hard-set that tempo from the menu. However that is connected via USB but receptor does get a clock from him if I set receptor to System "external midi"

Your thoughts?

not sure if midi clock would be send through USB .. you should check the manual for that. If it does, you're in business.

I guess if very specific tempos are required, the 34one wouldn't have a place in your setup. You need to have some source of midi clock that's more exact than tapping (a la 34one), so the idea is the same, but replace the 34one with something else that does what you need.

I have no idea about your application of tempo onstage, but couldn't your drummer just have a preset in the clickstation for the correct tempo for the song(s) and send you midi clock to synch up your receptor?

The clickstation just has a midi in... if it had a midi out then I could take that into receptor. As it stands I have to feed him for it to work.

I'll see if the novation will do it.. It has a tap button on it too so I know the USB will feed the midi clock.. .if I can preset the speed then yeah that will be a way to go..

So I'll come out of the midi THRU to go to the clickstation and feed it, right?

I appreciate your responses man!

well .. it's hinged on the receptors ability to pass midi from usb in to the midi jack thru. If it doesn't then that set up wont work, but if it does, then yes:

navation usb -> receptor usb, then:
receptor midi thru -> yamaha clickstation

my gut feeling is that won't work .. i'm guessing midi through jack is wired directly off the midi in, and doesn't encounter the usb midi at all ... just a guess.

It'd be nice if Muse could add the option to send internal clock through the midi out if they don't already. Seems like a no brainer if you're gonna have a setable internal clock. I can't find it in the manual or addendums anywhere ..

I did some testing and it doesn't send midi out that I can tell... and doesn't pass it thru if you are using a usb midi controller that is generating. I'm sure gizmostatic's method works because he's using it. But to the rescue is my novation remote SL...i can take a midi out of that (it has 2 midi out plus USB) and send to the clickstation.... and it lets u dial in the bmp.. .been testing it running into ableton live and works like a charm.. so this is as good or better a solution... Thank you for the responses all. Luv my receptor !!
