PuTTY Help Needed

Hi all, I'm new here!

I've owned my Receptor for a couple of months, and after some initial disappointment with crashing when loading large piano libraries in a rehearsal environment (embarrassing), it's finally got to the point of being 'usable'...!

Anyway, I would like to get 'into' my Receptor and mess around, but I cannot find the instructions on how to connect PuTTY to the unit (OGG's instructions are now offline it seems). So if anyone can help me with at least connecting to it and CHMODing 755 to the directories.. that'd be a great start!

Many thanks!

Great.. thanks for that! I also emailed Olle and he replied with a mirror of that site, in case anyone's interested, it's:-

Now, time for me to do battle with Linux and the Receptor... :)

May the force be with you!

once you have root access and can remote ssh in with putty, the sky is the limit. You can do some AMAZING things and actually increase it's usefulness greatly.

Thank you!! Although, I quickly found out how useless I am with this..

I started Receptor, entered 'e' and modified the start line.. then Receptor booted.. but what now??

I have PuTTY but have no idea how to use it.. I just entered the IP of my Receptor, but I'm guessing there's some other settings I have to enter to gain access.

Although I think I'm partly impatient, cos I've been dying to get inside this thing for weeks!!

Any more 'idiot-proof' help is GREATLY appreciated!!

oGG is the man you need here, not me ;-). I'm just a total "hack" at linux :hihi:

you need to read the whole section about gaining root access in oGG's doc. Bottom line is, you have to give your receptor a root password (don't worry it doesn't hurt anything, just don't bloody EVER forget it!! :-))

Once you have done that, you have to tweak some stuff to allow ssh into the box as root, and you'll be good to go. You'll just configure putty to connect to the ip address, like you have already done.

FYI, I used fixed ip addresses to make all this easier.
