Battery 2 not installing after Kontakt 2.2.1

Hello all!

My first post here.. been a lurker for a while though. Great forum!

I just installed Kontakt 2.2.1 via the new NI Service Center on my
Receptor and everything went fine. But installing Battery 2 from
the official mrpk (battery2-2_1_0_004-1.mrpk) seems to fail.

Installation Log.txt says:

Preparing packages for installation...
file /c/windows/system/REX Shared Library.dll from install of battery2-2.1.0.004-1 conflicts with file from package kontakt2-2.2.1.010-4

I checked out Plugorama for versions and release dates:

...and the mrpk of Kontakt 2.2.1 is updated 10 July 2007 while the
one for Battery 2 dates back to July 2006.

Could it be that there is a newer "REX Shared Library.dll" in the
Kontakt 2.2.1 package and Battery 2 installer prohibits replacing
the dll with an older version?

Happened to anyone else?

I had/have the same problem with NI Akoustik Piano. It won't install after Kontakt is installed. I opened a ticket. They said it was a problem with the installer, but so far no new installer for AP - it's been a (long) while. Muse indicated at the time that they were working on a "universal" fix rather than "individual" installers. I don't know if this is related to your problem, but it sounds like the same deal - I got the same type of message in the log. I hope a fix for these problems will come soon. Any update Muse?

Just an idea: You could try renaming the (Kontakt) "REX Shared Library.dll" file (in the Receptor system folder), then do the Battery 2 install (it will install its own DLL), then restore the (Kontakt) DLL. This is not an official method, use at your own risk, etc., and you may find other conflicting DLLs, plus Battery 2 may not work with the newer (Kontakt) DLL.

I actually tried what Greg suggested but the same problem and error message still remains (would have assumed otherwise myself as well). Opened a ticket and this is what Rick from Plugorama Support promptly answered me:

"There appears to be a conflict with Kontakt 2.2 and Battery 2 and it will not install. We are working on a new feature for installing plugins that would solve this by running the NI updates but I do expect it available before NAMM 2008."

So there you go...

Yea, I am having this problem with Battery 2 and the newest version of Kontakt. I opened a ticket on it, pointing out that the installer sees a DLL conflict. I spent about a month trying various things they asked having to do with installation order. Finally, Farhan said they would have to make a special installer for Battery to resolve this. This was a couple weeks ago. I haven't heard anything since

I'm having this same issue with Kontakt 2.11 and StormDrum Intakt. The Log.txt file says REX Shared Library.dll has a conflict. I had to uninstall SD to update Kontakt to 2.11 because my new Kirk Hunter Ruby won't play without it. Support said ask for help from Farhan but it sounds like you guys already have. I first started a help ticket about this in JULY. So I guess we'll just have to wait til NAMM 2008.
