General comments welcome, but in particular:
Anyone using this live?
How does it sound in mono?

Hi Phil,

Can't comment on Live performance or Mono yet.

I have installed it, and it is well worth the price. For me, it is incredibly smooth (no noticeable velocity switching, crossfades), and it is very detailed and warm. The engine seems to have improved too - I had problems trying to create a buffer underrun at buffer size 32. For me, it is the best Piano playing experience in a VSTi, bar none.

I've been using Italian Grand on Receptor for a couple of months. It is my favorite of the Ivory pianos. I have used it live for solo piano work and small jazz groups (duo - quartets). IG has generated unsolicited positive comments from the musicians I worked with, and IMHO it's the most satisfying piano sound I've played. (I currently have a Yamaha S90es, and I've also had Roland and Kurzweil products.) I would prefer playing Italian Grand to many of the unregulated, out-of-tune acoustic pianos I've been "stuck" with so often in the past. I have only played it in stereo, so I don't know how it would sound in mono. If you already have Ivory, it's well worth the $130.00. I agree with the above comment regarding the engine improvement as well. In fact, it seemed to me that the other pianos sounded/played a bit better too - I could be "goofy" on that though. Good luck -

I have been checking the boards quite a bit lately as, Im on the fence about the Recptor. I am glad to hear that Ivory plays well live and have been really leaning towards getting the Rec both for my studio and my live gigs. I do a lot of solo to quintet piano stuff and am so tired of the dig piano products. I picked up a Roland rd700sx only to find I am still very unhappy w/the progress made for piano's so far. So it looks like the only alternative will be the Rec.

Ivory was the 1st I purchased when I went to a daw, and I love it. Last week I picked up the Italian grand, and I must say. it is a wonderful piece. As far as recording, it has a bit more clarity, in a mix for certain pieces than the Stnway. Ive a-b-ed both these in a number of various tracks, dont really use the Bos or the Yam very much, and its wonderful to be able to choose between 2 such great sounding piano's.

But I am at the point where I can no longer put up w/the so called dig piano sound...I must ask, u have said it sounds great live...how does it feel live??

Thx, A.

I love the Italian Grand - but I do get get some crackle once in a while - have the 2 gig ram and 160 gig version of Receptor. But this piano sounds and plays better than anything else available today.

Hey RML, u say u get some crackle, did u install it yourself or did u have the factory do it? I also understand that since its a large sample, what else are u running with it? I am still trying to understand the concept while running say a single sampled inst compared to having a number of samples loaded at the same time....so bear with me as I try to grasp this. Ive read that if you are using 1 sample, say Ivory, then it should work ok. I really am thinking of getting a Rec for Ivory alone as Im covered on the other sounds I need for my gigs.

Thx, A.
