I just got this beastie (I am now U-He complete! :D ) , excellent for dark textures, noizy fun, etc!!!

The only one thing I miss is an Env follower to duck feedback on beats, etc...

Post

Yeah, an env follower would rock so much.

Thee must not have doubts

First compressor takes input as side chain to duck delays 1+2. Second compressor is placed on mix, adding a few more db of loudness and act as a limiter...

Release times go up to more than 10 seconds, so you can have a really smooth fade in of the ducked signal.

I'm not yet sure if I'll have the envelopes routed out as a modulation source. Certainly not in the initial release...

Btw. it looks like Z2.2 officially goes online today, so final release MFM2 comes close...

Cheers,

;) Urs

:D woohoo! Z2.2 today and MFM2 final a few days (hours?) later! You must be working your tail off, aren't you? :D:D

Nah, it's not hours... I need a couple of days for clean up and there's one thing I yet have to implement properly (a patch description box)...

First, great job on Zebra 2.2 The final MFM 2 will also contain new presets as it's mentioned in the roadmap ? Or is that for later ?

No, I think there'll be lots of presets - and many useful ones! For instance I've been playing a lot with MFM2 as a looper recently.

I'll require that every official factory preset will have a description though. That's the next big thing on my roadmap - adding patch descriptions. This is a lesser problem in synths as one can just play a sound. But in an effect one often needs to know what the patch is intended to do, for which material etc. - This may bring the official list down a bit, but all other presets (undocumented ones) will be made available separately...

I *love* patch descriptions in plugins! Especially for synths, when various modulation controls can do interesting things. Also it's good for tutorial material as well.

So anyway, big thumbs up for patch descriptions! ;)

Yeah, I'm sure everyone would want to route env follower to filter cutoff, feedback, delay time, delay output etc....

Awesome to see you've already got it planned and looping sounds like fun!

:D

I think a fun thing to consider in the future would be having 2 FB effects per side, sometimes you just want your freq shift to be decimated!

You can already use two FB fx in series...

In the User Feedback matrix, route 100% feedback only for

1 > 3
2 > 4
3 > 1
4 > 2

Set outputs for 1 & 2 to 0.00, 3 & 4 to 100.00

Set inputs for 3 & 4 to none

Now you have a delay made out of 2 delays in series per side. 1 & 2 are inputs, 3 & 4 are outputs. The overall delay times are simply added. FX12 is first, FX34 is second.

Ahhh, gotcha!

Hah, I've lately thought about possibilities in MFM2, to create a script for potential tutorial videos, so to speak. It's pretty intrigueing. One can do very strange things... I believe that there's gonna be a lot of cool stuff once the "critical mass of knowledge" about it is reached.

It takes a while until people pick up things. Howard for instance told me today that he doesn't know what to do with MFM2. I myself was so overwhelmed by MFM1, I never used it in any song (think about it!). I'm pretty comfortable with MFM2 though and I guess that the trick will be to make everybody comfortable with it - be it by patches, be it by tutorials or be it by intuitive use...

I'm the same, I haven't really got into it, or explored or exploited it at all... yet... I still think it's (just) a delay, and haven't really seen what interesting tricks it has up it's sleeves...

It is a delay in the first place... but delays sometimes have a lot more to offer than just that...

Yep, seems like it's great for textures, landscapes, custom modulating delays, noize madness, and maybe some cool looping-ness as well!
