i've been using a mix of 2 patches, one from wusikstation and the other from choir heaven, on a song but i've never really been happy with this mix.
does anyone know if there's a nice vocal choir patch among the 1000s made for zehbra?
it doesn't have to be totally realistic, but warm (ah or oh vowel, not oo) and just enough in it to hint a choir of singers.

I remember there was a thread about choir sounds in Z2... maybe a year ago... I think there were even some patches.... hmmm...

One thing I found is this patch from the Oldskool Set:

It's all one patch, the brightness depends on the velocity.
Is that what you're looking for?

i'll check that out later today. I need to hear it on decent speakers.
with all the great sounding patches I already have I can't imagine that a nice sounding choir patch is not possible in zebra. my patch-making ability is poor so I have to ask.

Could you post a link to the kind of sound you want (preferably in isolation)?politcat wrote:with all the great sounding patches I already have I can't imagine that a nice sounding choir patch is not possible in zebra.

so here's the link. The things I don't like, even though they get masked by other elements in the song, will become immediately apparent. The body of the sound the 2 patches together make is kind of what i'm after, just less shrill.

that's getting there, needs more "vocal" sound. Check out my link above.Urs wrote:One thing I found is this patch from the Oldskool Set:

Yes, they're very different. Interesting challenge - I'll give it a go tomorrow (may take several sessions to get right).politcat wrote:that's getting there, needs more "vocal" sound. Check out my link above.Urs wrote:http://www.u-he.com/music/MK2_Choral.mp3

Yeah, this is the one big area that I think is missing from all the Z2 patch sets. There are some patches that have a bit of a vocal element to them, but I have yet to hear (and have had difficulty creating myself) a real killer choir pad that sounds more vocally than stringy.politcat wrote:does anyone know if there's a nice vocal choir patch among the 1000s made for zehbra?

Actually... I think here's an idea:
Load one of Zebralette's "UH Bad Vocal Sample" into Zebra. Slow down the MSEG modulation of the vowels. Apply some filtering...
I might try that myself later...

Just made a short demo with four of my presets that went to CM magazine for the synth-award-special, there's a choir sound involved: http://www.tasmodia.com/demos/tas/cmspecial-demo.mp3
But it's more a softchoir thing rather than a hardchoir so it might not be the kind of sound you're looking for.
Anyway, enjoy the demo, there's also a string, an arp and a lead preset in it.
Cheers,
Thomas
