Hello

Does Zebra offer Dual sine Wave Synthesis which is used in Nord Lead 3?

Thanks

What is it?

isn't the dual sine wave synthesis in the NL3 just 2 operator FM?

You could do that with the FMOs couldn't you?

I don't know. Just curious if Zebra is capable of this particular synthesis.

clavia's web site wrote:Clavia also introduces Dual Sine FM - a very hands-on form of FM. In Dual Sine FM mode the oscillator generates two sine waves that can be used to form a 2-operator FM engine. If you like, you can use both oscillators in Dual Sine FM mode to create 4-operator frequency modulation. Don't let the word "operator" scare you off. With Nord Lead 3 it's extremely easy to create great FM sounds - you don't really have to know anything about FM to come up with good results!
I think it's just a different interface on standard FM synthesis, judging from this text, so the synthesis itself could be done in any synth that does FM.

Cool. Has anybody tried to recreate NL signature sound?

Kind of Zebra goes Nord, this time.

all i can say is no plug in ever comes close to sounding like my nord lead 2. i have no idea what kind of magic they throw into those machines, but it definitely sounds good. it's difficult to compare virtual with hardware, and i'm glad to have both!

nord lead is "virtual" too ;)

you know what i mean ;)

i should have said "compare SOFT with hardware", but then you'll probably tell me my nord has soft too :D

tip for NL2 owners: shift click filter type for 'hidden' filter.

I had a nord lead 2x... I find software capable of replacing it... The closest I've found to the nord tone (but with much greater capabilities) is vember audio's surge as far as the 2x goes... But I find zebra to have a lot of the nord lead 3 type of tone, and the FMO's definitely help in this too.

As much as I love the interface on the nord synths, and as much as I love how well they fit in a mix... There are software alternatives that can sound just as good.

As a matter of fact I meant the "technical" capability - not the "spirit", i.e. if all the modules & parameters necessary to recreate N3 are there in Z2.
Especially the FM.

No question about it. Post an N3 audio clip here...

Here we go again... ;)

Should be available in a couple of hours.

That's all I can send because I had NL for just a while. Bought via internet, it appeared to have a broken dial, so I sent it back asap.

This was just a hello twiddling - but some of the tones made me sweat.

These clips sound like several bandpass filters applied to relatively static waveforms (whether FM or otherwise) - so I reckon you'd have great fun with Zebra's comb filters and/or multiple bandpass.

Z2 is also an FM monster, BTW :D
