Earlier this year I stumbled on a rock group, IKE, that is pretty popular in the Philadelphia/Pennsylvania area (plus New Jersey, Delaware, etc.) Check 'em out here;

Interestingly, the lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist John Faye actually taught a class at my university (Drexel) in songwriting. Anyway, fast forward a bit - I was listening to their single "Into Philadelphia" which is one of their most popular tracks, and incredibly catchy. I asked John if he'd like to hear it remixed, he said sure, sent me a vocal, and I set to work. Recently I completed the mix and sent it to him; the whole band loves it! In fact, they will be playing it to open up for their new CD release party on December 26th at World Cafe Live, a popular venue here.

I'm posting about this here because 100% of the synths are Zebra 2. 15 instances total! I used all patches from my own Dance & Electronic preset banks (available at my website) including a bunch from the upcoming volume 3.

Check out the track here:

The original song can be heard in full on the IKE MySpace. Enjoy, and thanks again Urs for such a great synth.

*cough* Who needs reFX? ;)

As a guitar player, I'm a big fan of whatever guitar rock/pop - so, yeah, I prefer the original.
But, regardless of my musical preferences, you did a great job on the remix. And it certainly shows quite some of Zebras potential.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

it's going into my ipod zircon.

i'm a guitarist (rock/pop) and i like your mix better than the original (don't let the band see this). btw, I did hear the original first. imo, the band's arrangement doesn't carry that catchy tune. I was waiting to get somewhere.

OTH, what you did grabs me from the beginning. the vocal ambience is just right esp. in your breakdown to bridge section, which is very cool. over all, I think you capture the "take a ride" feeling better. ha!

zebra rocks!

I'm a guitar pop rocker myself, and enjoyed your version better than the original.
Good work showing off Zebra, too!

Nice job on this, especially getting the vocal to work. It's actually pretty amazing how well the vocal fits into two such completely different styles.
