Problems with sfz on Receptor

Although I already created a ticket for this problem, I thought it wouldn't hurt to also post it here, in case other people are experiencing the same problems.
Recently I discovered that there are some very nice free samples available in .sf2 format. However, when I store a patch (either single or multi) using an instance of sfz loaded with some sample, the patch is often stored with a previously loaded sample.
Another, more severe, problem is that when I have a multi with 3 or more instances of sfz, my Receptor keeps restarting when I try to load another patch (e.g. a Blank Patch). A way to prevent Receptor from restarting in this case, is to set the Source of some channels to "none" until at most 2 instances of sfz are active.
Anyone else experiencing the same problems?
Regards,
Louis

Forgot to mention that the size of the samples doesn't seem to be the problem (tried it with very small samples). The Receptor logs the following error in case of a restart:
Dec 9 09:36:44 Receptor-1 rm-host: wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0009), starting debugger...

This actually sounds to me like an sfz problem rather than Receptor (I don't have any hard data to back that up, but that's what it feels like (and yes, I am often wrong about these things...
)
But have you tried this on a PC? Does it work? If so, then I'm wrong, and never mind...
(But that's the test - does it blow up on a PC as well? If so, it's probably sfz, not the OS. Would you be able to use multiple channels of one instance of sfz instead of multiple instantiations? Just looking for a work-around.
Good luck. Keep us posted, please.

Already got a reply from Rick from Muse (this is what I call support!). Upgraded from 1.6.20070618 to 1.6.20070717, but the problem remains. Sent a multi that causes the resetting problem. I'll keep you informed.

It is not a receptor problem. SFZ crashes here too when using more than 1 instance in a song. (Reaper, Core2duo CPU). It even happens on my MSI Wind netbook. And one of my students just reported the problem from his PC.Robert Karasek wrote:well... don't bother them with stuff like that
Any ideas? Is there a version of SFZ that works with mulitple instances?
All the best

I had the same problem, which I solved by purchasing Kontakt 3 and converting all my .sf2 files to .nki. I can run as many instances of Kontakt 3 as I want with no problems. The added plus is that you can layer instruments by creating a multi in a single instance of Kontakt, and add filters, modulators, etc.

I had a similar, but slightly cheaper and more light-weight solution, that was mentioned in another thread: I bought sfz+
. My Receptor is now rock stable, even with 10 instances of sfz+ running in parallel.

http://www.cakewalk.com/products/Gifts- ... stomer.asp (scroll to bottom of the page) It might help upgrading to sfz+, which is now free.
