I was just wondering if I can use the receptor for vocals for live and studio use? If not what do you recommend?

first: record at -0db in your DAW.
than
I suggest using a gate on efx 1 than W1 limiter on the last efx with a -4 db output...the thresh is up to what you like.
I like to use this instead of a compressor so that I get all the bands and no peaks like normal flat compresson does.
or
if you can afford it...use "Final plug" (wave arts) instead of W1.
because the algorithms are smoother.

use this setting with other things too.

The Receptor is great for vocals if you have the right plug-ins installed. Some of the freeware/vaporware is okay and some of the pre-installed effects are a nice touch for vocal effects. Also, the addition of the new Antares vocal plug-ins really opens up the options for processing. Now I can use the Receptor with Auto-Tune as a more robust replacement for live vocal tuning since the AVP-1 is getting harder and harder to find for sale.
