Here you go, 33 patches by me. The majority of them are evolving sounds and sequences and most of them have a number of performance oriented modifiers (check the X/Y controllers, modwheel, pitch bend, aftertouch). I tried to label the performance contols in a way that makes sense but it pays to experiment with these, you'll find that some pretty unexpected noises will pop out of your speakers.

Use a limiter! I tried to keep everything at a nominal level but some of the patches use high feedback levels, disonant FM and tons of resonance, so just be careful.

Any questions, suggestions... let me know! I'll try to put out another bank like this in the near future. :)

I'm working on a bank of weird sound effects and stuff that is likely to be useless to most people. Still, I wonder exactly how many people would be interested in a patch bank along these lines... The amount of effort I put into this will probably be dictated by how many people would use these sounds. I'm normally a pretty sloppy sound designer (as should be apparent from these patches) but if I get enough of a positive response I'll put effort into the performance aspects and labeling of the patches.

This zip file contains 10 sounds, hold a key and the patch will do it's thing. Some of them respond to the X/Y controls, some don't. The ones that do have labels indicating what the controllers do (some are kind'a cryptic). There might be one or two patches that must be played (ie they are not presequenced) but most likely they won't be melodic :)

FX type sounds are one of those things that I need a lot of to find the right one when I need it. Some of these have potential but until I have the spot for them I don't know whether I'd use them. I'm sure I have more weird shit than I need, but I think you'll find some takers.

I am always on the look out for FX stuff (think early modular weirdness from TD etc) so anything you come up with is always welcome to me...

I love these fx sounds!

I currently have a vague feeling that there's a rising demand for cinematic sounds in Z2 8)

I'd love to see these with advanced ModWheel/Pitchwheel/Pressure control!

Well... I tend to focus on the cold, digital sounds that Zebra is capable of. I think that Howard and Michael have covered a lot of the TD style sound effects (much better than I ever could), I'm going for a Autechre, Richard Devine, Kid 606, Apects of Physics kinda' vibe. Lots of comb filters, S/H LFOs, detuned FM, warped distortion, modulated delays, modulated modulators. That sort of thing.

I tried to make the patches very flexible though so anythings possible... Trying tweaking the X/Ys, on some patches the sound will go from completely useless to pretty pleasant. :)

Thanks for your response guys.

At the very least, I'm sure your contributions will give me a platform to dive from and get new ideas for SoundFx. I'm hoping to get to try your stuff later today when I can get to my music computer.

Thanks

I really like:

grain oil texture
whipbass
bacon and tins
jumping beans
lickitch

I'd welcome more of this!

I haven't tried these, but knowing your tastes, I'm eager to get my hands on these, and any others you're willing to do. Being a relative newcomer to Zebra, I'm always curious to see what others do with it, especially if they have similar tastes in music, and similar tastes in trying to coax odd sounds out of instruments.

Checked them out, very interesting. :tu:

Awesome sounds there. I like TRULY "out-there" sounds that separate Zebra from any other synth. Please keep at it...I'll use any more you create.

Cool, interesting patches 3am. I like the crackles in some the patches, particularly 'use-less'. The unpredictability of 'whipbass' makes it good to play.

i love them!!!!

Cool, I'll try to have a bank for you all in a month or so. Gratis, of course.
