Software upgrades and Receptor...what order to do things in?

Hi everyone,

After months of deliberation, I finally clicked on the "purchase" button to obtain a new Receptor Pro Junior (with Komplete). So, hopefully that will shortly arrive out here in Saudi Arabia.

I need advice, though, in setting up my system. I'm running everything through a MacBook Pro (earlier CoreDuo model) which is currently installed with OS 10.4. Last night I installed a new hard disk, so now I have space to finish off a bunch of installations that I've had on my to-do list. I have so far delayed upgrading to Leopard on this machine as I've got concerns about compatibilities.

Now, I've just installed the Italian Grand expansion pack for Ivory, as a 1.6 version (without the need for an iLok dongle). To run the latest version, though, I know that I'll have to upgrade to 1.7 and finally enter the world of dongles.

In addition to this, waiting to be installed is Logic Studio, as an upgrade to Logic Express. Oh, and I have just purchased (but not yet installed) the PC-only Oberheim emulator OP-X Pro, while it was on special offer, anticipating that I can run it hassle-free through the Receptor.

So, what order should I install everything? Ivory onto Receptor BEFORE upgrading to 1.7?? Leopard upgrade, iLok authorisation for Ivory, then move everything onto the Receptor?? So many permutations...and so many things that could possibly go wrong!

I would be very grateful for any advice from the wealth of knowledge from the seasoned users out there. As you can guess, being in Saudi I am somewhat isolated from the rest of the music-making community.

Cheers,

Ian
