hi
I want something small, free & unobstrusive that plays anything you can throw at it e.g. windows videos, Quicktime etc.
I don't want bloatware Quicktime etc.
Any recommended software ?
thanks

Also found something called Quicktime Alternative.
Which is better (ie. less buggy, instrusive etc). ?
This is going on my primary DAW OS partition ...

Quicktime Alternative isn't a player. It's Quicktime codecs coupled with an open source player called Media Player Classic.basic channel wrote:thanks

It's dubious at best, or was last time I checked. Not only it installed Apple software (which is probably against the EULA) - it inserted a Quicktime Pro serial, making it effectively a Quicktime Pro crack (you can easily removed the serial if you want, though).
Things might have changed there, but you might want to keep that in mind.

thanks again
Well I tried VLC and it didn't work
I'm trying to watch my Stylus RMX videos - but when I launch them I get multiple windows with the opening shot of the video, and sound, but no moving pictures.
There are lots of errors listed in the "Messages" section of VLC about:
main warning: late picture skipped (79518000)
vout_directx warning: could not blit surface (error -2005532522)
And a few about:
ffmpeg error: more than 5 seconds of late video -> dropping frame (computer too slow ?)
Why didn't Eric just make them for WMP ??
