uniwire reliability

I've found the uniwire plugin to be extremely unreliable. It works great for about thirty seconds, then stops working (plugin stops making sound, "audio dropouts" light on uniwire plugin lights up and "enable uniwire" checkbox shuts off in Receptor UI). After that, the only way to get the plug-in working again is to restart my DAW or Core Audio.

Here's my set-up:
Logic 8.0.2
Mac OS X 10.4.11
Mac Pro Quad Core 2.66
4 GB Ram (not even close to maxing out RAM)
Uniwire 1.2.20080605 (virtual instrument plugin running)
Receptor Hardware 1.0(rev C)
Receptor Software 1.7.20080616
Receptor connected to Mac Pro via Cat5 crossover cable (mac is supplying DHCP address to receptor).

This happens consistently, regardless of the latency settings I try in my DAW and in the Uniwire plugin.

Is this a known issue? Has anyone found a workaround?
